i think that restricting ones religion is to suppress them. however i feel that it is right thaat they should opt to cover their hair, but i feel that in school one should try to steer away from covering the face as it may impinge on others. i believe in freedom of faith, if we restrict the complete islamic dress then we are no better than what hitler done, but now it will come under the heading of political correctness.

that being a little 'Fundie'
is better than being a big 'Fussy'!

Do you think we should be a little less apt to teach and a lot more apt to shine?!!!! After all even "a man convinced against his will is of the same opinion still."
What say you?

Don't ask yourself what the world needs; ask yourself what makes you come alive. And then go and do that. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.

All I hear of is University groups who are sympathetic towards them. Why don't the rest of the Muslims stand up and take back their religion that has been hijacked?

Everyone has faith in something, whether it God or evolution. Do you know the odds of the universe from the beginning of " The Big Bang" where it was just some elemental gases swirling around in space to the creation of stars and planets, to the evolution of a right climate for life on Earth, in the life zone of the Sun. To the primordial ooze to single cell organisms. On to more complex organisms. To evolve into different creatures. To finally evolve into a thinking reasoning being who can interact with the natural world through his physical senses and his ability to ponder it though reason and intellect. ALL THROUGH CHANCE. A lot of scientists will admit its a long shot, like 1,000,000,000 to 1.
I think it takes more faith to believe that, than to believe in eternity being that his always been. Even most of you will say that to by calling it "a crutch." The term tells me its easier to believe that than a crazy long shot chance.
ALRIGHT ATHEISTS, I'M READY FOR YOU TO RAIL ON ME!

the first thing preached is origional sin....how does that work with a kind and loving god?
"i love you, come back to me....but you better atone for sins commited millenia ago, also you better not do a bunch of abritrary actions or youll burn in a pool of fire!!!!!! with monsters...and other....medieval creations......also a guy on a cross died for your sins 2k yrs ago.......um....just pray and youll get answered by god....who sees fit to leave you with whatever problem you have to fix yourself....."

seriously, what is the appeal? im not trying to be offensive, but im sure some "radical thinkers" will tell me im going to hell.....but somehow, i cant believe ill be living in a lake of fire with middle ages monsters. its based on something that cannot be substanstiated (the bible, regardless of what you believe, it justan ancient text with some questionable authors), except inside the minds of the believers......
so reall, whats the appeal of this insane religion?

Why do Christians believe that God would use Evolution as a way to create? God rested; Evolution is ongoing. Not only is theistic evolution a contradiction in terms--like the phrase "flaming snowflakes"--but in the words of the Nobel prize winning evolutionist Jacques Monod: "Natural selection is the blindest, and most cruel way of evolving new species... The struggle for life and elimination of the weakest is a horrible process, against which our whole modern ethic revolts... I am surprised that a Christian would defend the idea that this is the process which God more or less set up inorder to have evolution." Also, in Herbrew, when it says "And the Morning and the evening were the 1st, 2nd,3rd... day",it is talking is talking about a real 24-hour period. When there is no ordinal in front of the word "day", then it can mean a week, month, year... whatever. God doesn't have 2 painfully plod thru millions of mistakes, misfits, and mutations inorder to have fellowship with humans

if hindus believe in cows being sacred (if it's not hindus please correct me) then what would happen if your family was starving and all the food you had was a cow, would you eat it? what would happen if you did? i'm just curious to find out how far people would take their faith.

Dang, this'll cost me 5 points, but, I have to find out!?

Is it true that in the hadith of Mohammad, where he speaks about the Second Coming of Jesus Christ, that :

1] Jesus will renounce that He is the Son of God?
2] He'll recite the shahadah?[In other words, convert to Islam]??
3] He'll renounce Christianity???
4] He'll renounce that He was a Prophet and announce that Mohammad is the True Prophet and His Master?????

I'd read this hadith, long ago and did not remember seeing anything remotely like this there!?

Does anyone have the reference to the original hadith, please?

Why are Muslims saying things like this here?

I used to think that Mohammad, despite all other things, was a great fan of Jesus!

Am I wrong?

Does Islam really denigerate the status of Isa, al Massihe, to a secondary position, under Mohammad?

I really need to know the Truth!

serious observation - most answers i have read here pertaining to why atheists who were once believers don't believe anymore, talk about education. we know that religion was originally a way to explain the unexplainable in the world. now that the average person is extremely more educated then back in biblical times, is this why religion is having such a hard time keeping followers and finding new ones? science seems to be taking the lead; the more educated the poplulation, the less people turn to religion. true, false or a bit of both? please provide answers, not biblical quotes that can easily be misinterpreted. thanks

My mother is not only a Christian, but she is a Pastor.. I, too, am a Christian.. I am true in my faith and do not deny her her right to her beliefs...but I feel that she carries it too far at times....
I just sent her an email to let her know that I had to put my very sick 5 mos old kitten to sleep yesterday...a kitten that I had helped to deliver and was ver special to me..
Her email back to me was, to me, very hurtful... She said that "though it wasn't written in the word, she believed that there was a "pet heaven" and that we would someday see our pets again...and that if I kept my faith, I would see her again some day" and then she went on about my b/f...saying that "just because he went to a Catholic School, does not make him a Christian"... Well, duh!! That is our belief.. but he is not a bad guy and he supports my beliefs...actually almost going with me a couple times..but what does that have to do with it?? I needed my mom, not my pastor... Why can't she see that???
