No, they are not the same thing at all. Jesus is the Son of God, Jehovah, and the holy spirit is God's active force.
A comparison of Bible texts that refer to the holy spirit shows that it is spoken of as ‘filling’ people; they can be ‘baptized’ with it; and they can be “anointed” with it. (Luke 1:41; Matt. 3:11; Acts 10:38) None of these expressions would be appropriate if the holy spirit were a person.
Jesus also referred to the holy spirit as a “helper” (Greek, pa·ra′kle·tos), and he said that this helper would “teach,” “bear witness,” “speak,” and ‘hear.’ (John 14:16, 17, 26; 15:26; 16:13) It is not unusual in the Scriptures for something to be personified. For example, wisdom is said to have “children.” (Luke 7:35) Sin and death are spoken of as being kings. (Rom. 5:14, 21) While some texts say that the spirit “spoke,” other passages make clear that this was done through angels or humans. (Acts 4:24, 25; 28:25; Matt. 10:19, 20; compare Acts 20:23 with 21:10, 11.) At 1 John 5:6-8, not only the spirit but also “the water and the blood” are said to ‘bear witness.’ So, none of the expressions found in these texts in themselves prove that the holy spirit is a person.
The correct identification of the holy spirit must fit all the scriptures that refer to that spirit. With this viewpoint, it is logical to conclude that the holy spirit is the active force of God. It is not a person but is a powerful force that God causes to emanate from himself to accomplish his holy will.—Ps. 104:30; 2Â Pet. 1:21; Acts 4:31.

God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are all one and the same. Together they are known as the Trinity. This is a tough concept to grasp. It isn't talked about explicitly in the Bible, but it is referenced on several different occasions. God the Father is our Father - he watches over us. Jesus the Son, is the Son of God, who came to earth in human form, died for our sins on a cross, was buried, and rose on the third day. The Holy Spirit is the indwelling spirit - it resides inside us. The day we accept salvation, the Holy Spirit takes up residence in us and begins working!
So the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are all one person, yet they are at the same time three separate entities. They are one person, three different jobs.
Hope this helps!
In Christ,

Yes you are right to an extent. The Holy Spirit is part of God but it also takes Jesus and the Father to complete God.
The Holy Spirit does the work of God. The Father speaks and the Holy Spirit acts.
Think of them as having different ministries like this...
1) The Father's Ministry
He gave us the 10 Commandments to live by. He gave us
the letter of the law, which today should not be broken.
It causes you to conduct and treat others well on the
physical level. It tells us not to steal, murder, lie to one
another etc. But what about jealously, greed, envy and
forgivness?
2) Jesus's Ministry
Since the 10 Commandments addressed more of the
physical realm; something had to be done to address
the issus of the heart. Jesus says I will give you the
greatest Commandment of all and that is to love one
another. He came to teach us how to love, treat and to
respect others. He taught us that it is not what goes into
your mouth which makes you unclean; it's what's comes
out of your mouth. He taught us to forgive one another.
3) Holy Spirit's Ministry
Before Jesus was crucified, He told all His disciples that
He must go but that He would not leave us alone; He would
send us the Comforter. The Comforter being the Holy
Spirit. The Holy Spirit guides us into all truths. He brings
back to rememberance all the truths and knowledge of
God. He dwells within us and convicts us if we do or say
something contrary to the Word of God.
When the Father speaks, it is the Holy Spirit who makes
it all happen.
And all sins will be forgiven, even the denial of Jesus
Himself, except for one. There is no forgivness for
blaspheming the Holy Spirit.
So you see, they all have their ministeries, they all came to us
at different times in history but they are still GOD.

A person is make up of more than one part (they have a body, a mind(soul) and a spirit. Each works in a different realm - the body in the physical, the soul in the mental, and the spirit in the spiritual. Each is just as much "you" as any of the others. They all function together to make a complete person.
So God is the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Each operates in a different realm - the Father in the heavenly realm, the Son as Jesus in the physical realm for a time, and the Holy Spirit within the minds and hearts of men.
They are three "person" who make up the being God. Each just as much "God" as any of the others. Yet each operates in a different realm performing a different part of the plan of salvation.

When you see a married friend having sex with a cute little thing in the country and part of you knows this is wrong and you should tell his wife - that is the holy spirit working in your heart/mind. The holy spirit is inside of the person working to make the correct decisions it resides in the human heart of the true Christians.

God, Jesus, and The Holy Spirit are all one, but seperate. let's see it like water and ice, it's the same thing but differnt forms. they all have different roles that they play. God is the forgiver and most important, Jesus is the sacrificer and saviour, and the Holy Spirit, is the go getter, he goes inside of us and fill us with the spirit of God.

The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God!
You should have said "Who is the Holy Spirit?" instead of 'what?'

They aren't the same. The holy spirit It is God’s active force, not Jehovah’s power residing within himself, but his energy when projected out from himself for the accomplishing of his purposes. This is what certain early “church fathers” chose to call “a mode of divine operation.” Being invisible and powerful it can properly be termed ru′ahh, pneu′ma or spirit. However, it is not a blind, uncontrolled force, such as the forces of “nature,” lightning, hurricanes and the like, but as God’s holy spirit it is at all times under his control, accomplishing his holy purposes
