Everyone has faith in something, whether it God or evolution. Do you know the odds of the universe from the beginning of " The Big Bang" where it was just some elemental gases swirling around in space to the creation of stars and planets, to the evolution of a right climate for life on Earth, in the life zone of the Sun. To the primordial ooze to single cell organisms. On to more complex organisms. To evolve into different creatures. To finally evolve into a thinking reasoning being who can interact with the natural world through his physical senses and his ability to ponder it though reason and intellect. ALL THROUGH CHANCE. A lot of scientists will admit its a long shot, like 1,000,000,000 to 1.
I think it takes more faith to believe that, than to believe in eternity being that his always been. Even most of you will say that to by calling it "a crutch." The term tells me its easier to believe that than a crazy long shot chance.
ALRIGHT ATHEISTS, I'M READY FOR YOU TO RAIL ON ME!

And please people don't ask me " Why God could not have used evolution?" That is not the issue, I am talking about evolution by chance.

For those of you who are saying, not all atheist believe in evolution. Then tell me, I'm curious. How did the universe and life come about?

I don't go to church. These are my thoughts. I am very big into science, I love it, especially physics. Why are you assuming I am coming from a "christian" stand point.

Magpieix,
Please, I am serious, if evolutionist do not believe it happened by chance, than how? Barring a higher power of any kind, that is the issue. If not by chance than how. Any evolutionary process if not governed by something is chance.
I'm am not trying a be a jerk about it, I am really curious of your statement and would really love to hear more of it.

once you replaced into an atheist, you probally had a lot of atheist acquaintances and / or acquaintances that were a similar. You had a similar viewpoints and also you probally paid more beneficial interest to that style of common sense. Now that you're a believer, you probally run in diverse circles. It occurs. Believers were always there and vocal, possibly no longer evangelizing ,yet vocal basically a similar. each each now and then we turn a deft ear to different options when we are dealing with some thing. We listen, yet we are no longer taking heed because we are no longer in our convenience zone. Hosea 4:6 says that God's human beings perish from the shortcoming of information ( anybody stepping out of the gentle of God and stumbling over problems with this international ). when we develop into believers, we are Babes in Christ, and performance to locate the fashion to step out in faith boldly donning the finished armour of God and be prayed up earlier coming adverse to the enemy. Many have taken on many fiery darts in the call of Jesus, and may experience that the conflict is lost. that's not lost because Jesus has the victory. i'm no longer likely to ask you why may you do a 360 backwards, yet i'd like it in case you've requested your self why?. Self exam may be very painful, you're kept by ability of Grace, do not look back and also you're welcome into the dominion as an heir. to respond to your very last question, i do not bear in options being an atheist---------the Church / Temple ( presented up as Messianic Jew ) raised me------i replaced into exceedingly a lot born on the back pew. Yeshua Ha Mashiach ---Jesus the Messiah. Amen! All of my hopes are with you and your new walk.

What do trains have to do with it? Unless of course, you are referring to a train of thought. (RAIL ON ME)

No one really knows for sure how long the universe has been around. And who can believe that Methuselah lived for 800/900 years? That is almost a millennium!

Do you know about the 100 monkeys syndrome? It was discovered on an island that the monkeys there washed their food. Monkeys on other islands did not. As the population of monkeys on that island grew, more and more washed their food. When the 100th monkey started to wash his food a strange thing happened. Scientists on other islands noticed the monkeys there started to wash their food. There had been no contact between the monkeys yet they all started to do the same thing.

If you have ever watched the series "Connections" you realize that scientists all over the world would be working on the same thing and no one realized it until one would have a break-through and solve whatever problem so many of them were working on not knowing others were working on the same problem.

Now back to the universe. Lots of molecules, right? Now apply the 100 monkeys theory to the molecules, then imagine the molecules are elemental gases swirling around in space. The change doesn't just start in one place, it starts in several places at once and spread rapidly. That acts as a catalyst and the reactions speed up.

Now think of a piece of silk being rapidly rubbed on a glass rod. An electrical charge is created as electrons transfer and upset the balance of the atoms and molecules. Attraction and repulsion is created and clusters of molecules start to form. Attraction is the beginnings of gravity. And not in just one place but in many.

Remember, man can talk about eternity but has yet to experience the full brunt of what it is. The more science and archeology learns, the older the universe seems to become. Keep in mind the 100 monkey theory. It's happening all over the universe not in just one place! And has been going on longer than we know. We have more than a trillion cells in our bodies, what does one chance in a mere billion (1,000,000,000) have to do with it?

Now think of all the molecules in the universe. It's quite believable now that life can be formed. One thing leads to another and another and a couple of others and on and on.

It wasn't just one crazy long shot chance, it was at least a trillion crazy long shot chances!

Oh, by the way, as a parting shot (not necessarily aimed at you): atheism was first used to describe a self-avowed belief in late 18th-century Europe, specifically denoting disbelief in the monotheistic Judeo-Christian God. In the 20th century, there has increasingly been a push in certain philosophical circles to redefine atheism negatively.

It would be most gracious of everyone to remember this is the Religion and Spirituality section, not solely the Christian section. You are correct in your assumption "Everyone has faith in something." Thank you.

Please parse and retransmit if you have a query. But read a bit about your topics first, please. Some hints:
1. Understanding evolution is not "faith", nor faith-based.
2. Evolution is not "CHANCE" (Why the upper case, BTW?)
3. "Odds" are irrelevant to your chosen topic. And please cite some of these many scientists who say: 1,000,000,000 to 1.
(Your thought on "more faith" to believe science is colored by the level of indoctrination/brainwashing re science/religion.)

[Edit:] You claim love of science, but you know precious little.

Re Your: "For those of you who are saying, not all atheist believe in evolution. Then tell me, I'm curious. How did the universe and life come about?" ...
Evolution has *nothing* to do with either the universe or life coming about. "Big into science"? "Love of science?" Pffft.

It shows the quite astonishing depth of your ignorance. If I could get anti-evolutionists to pay attention and learn one thing about evolution it would be that EVOLUTION IS NOT BROUGHT ABOUT BY CHANCE.

When you actually learn something about the subject, instead of parroting back what an equally ignorant preacher has told you, you might recognize the extraordinary beauty of the evolutionary mechanism. Until then, you cannot get off the ground with an argument like yours.

For the umpteenth time, no-one believes in evolution by pure chance, and the Big Bang has nothing to do with evolution.

Why do Creationists insist on making themselves look silly this way?

Sorry, but an atheist doesn't have to have faith in god or evolution.

Evolution is not the "religion" of atheists just like math is not the "religion" of accountants.

Some atheists don't believe in evolution. Thus your question is invalid.

Life is the non-random survival of randomly mutating genetic replicators. So it's NOT random.
Low probabilities become certainties over very long periods of time. It's difficult for people to grasp how long a billion years is.

There is some truth to what your saying but, "evolution by chance" (as you say) is probably a LOT less likely then the ratio that you gave above.

I personally don't care what person's conclusion is on the origin of the universe/earth. I am concerned about a person's conclusion on the identity of Jesus of Nazareth.

To me, it looks like atheists rely on faith just as much as religious people, if not more. You cannot prove that God doesn't exist; anymore than you can prove that God does exist. Atheists often talk of science and logic, but their argument that God doesn't exist is based on speculation and not hard evidence.
