i think that restricting ones religion is to suppress them. however i feel that it is right thaat they should opt to cover their hair, but i feel that in school one should try to steer away from covering the face as it may impinge on others. i believe in freedom of faith, if we restrict the complete islamic dress then we are no better than what hitler done, but now it will come under the heading of political correctness.

I don't think it's wrong to restrict what others do or wear, as long as it doesn't interfere with the teaching going on in the classroom. I don't see how head covers would interfere, unless by serving as a distraction (which kids will eventually get over). However, a line must be drawn somwhere. If my religion says that I must ring a bell every 10 minutes then I have no right to disturb the other students by doing that.

no its not just. The reason given to not have the veil worn in schools is because the teacher cannot make eye contact with the students and see them properly....pretty dumb excuse and makes the teachers sound pervy 2 me
Also everyone is supposed 2 be liberated and free, in the countries that implement this law - this is a contradiction as the women dont have free will 2 wear the nikaab!

Why is it Muslims keep on about their religion that is infringed, since this government has kowtowed to Islam and bend over backwards to accommodate them Christians have been denied any rights what ever. We have been made to conform to draconian measures to suppress us. We aren't allowed to wear purity rings or a crucifix so why do the Muslims feel they should have special rights over and above all else in the name of their religion.

No I don't I think people should be allowed practice their religion without interference from any one else, it does not harm any one else. We need to love each other more and be more accepting schools should set an example on that rather than setting an example on intolerance and fear.

No it is not wrong.

If a teacher is fully covered up - how are kids meant to learn if they can't see the mouth. That is where we learn how to speak and pronounce.
This is Britain - if they don't like it they know what they can do....
They have more rights here than any of us would have in their respective countries.

The burkha is not a requirement of religion, it is to do with not allowing the faces of the women to inflame the passions of men. Would you wear one at the insistence of your husband?

That's the thing..they aren't covering their faces in the school, Just their Hair...I am Muslim and don't cover my hair as it doesn't tell me to in the Quran...I do respect how others want to cover their hair, and I don't see why it should be an issue...Why does it bother someone to have their hair covered? Why don't they ban Bandanas and head wraps as well??

i dont think they should cover their face because you can tell alot about what a person is thinking by their facial expressions and it helps you determine how the person is saying something (e.g if they say something to you and smile slightly you know its a joke) if you cant see facial expressions thye could say something jokingly but you take it serious and get upset by it because you thought it was said seriously

No as an American, none of us should accept this blatant disregard for the Constitution and bill of rights. Yes, i think its a waste of time for them to believe in all that stuff, but I support their right.

of course it is...is it ok to make women cover up in some Muslim countries, you play by the rules of the country you choose to live in.. if you don't like it,feck off back to a country that will accommodate your religious crap or whatever....but then again after living in a Muslim country for several year i can say that of course there are beautiful Muslim women but my god most of them are doing society a favour by covering up, it think their husbands make them ware the veil because they are ashamed of the munster they are married to....
