Why are there so many atheists in the religion & spirituality forum?
That tells me they love to preach just as much as anyone else.

It had been raining for days and days, and a terrible flood had come over the land. The waters rose so high that one man was forced to climb onto the roof of his house.

As the waters rose higher and higher, a man in a rowboat appeared, and told him to get in. "No," replied the man on the roof. "I have faith in the Lord; the Lord will save me." So the man in the rowboat went away. The man on the roof prayed for God to save him.

The waters rose higher and higher, and suddenly a speedboat appeared. "Climb in!" shouted a man in the boat. "No," replied the man on the roof. "I have faith in the Lord; the Lord will save me." So the man in the speedboat went away. The man on the roof prayed for God to save him.

The waters continued to rise. A helicopter appeared and over the loudspeaker, the pilot announced he would lower a rope to the man on the roof. "No," replied the man on the roof. "I have faith in the Lord; the Lord will save me." So the helicopter went away. The man on the roof prayed for God to save him.

The waters rose higher and higher, and eventually they rose so high that the man on the roof was washed away, and alas, the poor man drowned.

Upon arriving in heaven, the man marched straight over to God. "Heavenly Father," he said, "I had faith in you, I prayed to you to save me, and yet you did nothing. Why?" God gave him a puzzled look, and replied "I sent you two boats and a ****ing helicopter, what more did you expect me to do?

At the end of every school assembly program, our principle use to always say, where ignorance is bliss, it is folly to be wise, someone told me that it is in the bible also. Please explain what it means.

Does your religion allow you to silence anyone who disagrees with you or does your religion accept those who may have different beliefs?

Anytime you ask a Christian why they are disobeying their own laws - they say that Jesus wrote a new covenant. I was even told that God did not make the 10 Commandments to follow - That really confuses me. If Jesus wrote a new covenant - then what are the guidelines? Did he write new commandments? I thought Jesus said he did not come to change the laws of Moses/God.

No disrespect by asking this question intended - But the "Jesus Died For Our Sins" sounds like a cop out and a justification for people to do what ever they want to do. How can you believe if every single Christian has a different way of "believing" What kind of assessment can you have with this type of philosophy? If there is no set way of believing, who should you believe?

I did a search on my boyfriends email name and came up with a list (mostly from ebay which I know are his) but also came up with a profile on a porn site. I'm strongly against pornography. Do you think this profile on the porn site is his? or not? What should I do?

I really saw this question in someone's details "isn't a man convinced against his will stil of the same opinion as you". Please forgive my lack of computer skills. I am a construction worker between jobs and this is only a hobby to me. I don't have a clue how to post a link. His question was something like

"Isn't it better to be a fundie than a big fussy?"

What? I am i the only Christian that sees a problem in the logic of that particular post? I sure hope not.

The scientific method, which informs us on our understanding of evolution, works by following the evidence to a conclusion. It is much like putting together a puzzle in the correct order to see what picture it makes. Creationists on the other hand start with a conclusion and search for evidence that may support their claim. To repeat the puzzle analogy they first decide that the picture should end up as a cat in a box. They search through the puzzle pieces to find the ones that might make this picture and force them together to best effect a cat in a box.

Let's look at it another way. Suppose there are two detectives. One represents science, the other creationism. The "science" detective arrives on a bloody crime scene. After a thorough examination of the scene he finds a receipt for a knife. He follows this lead to the store and finds out that Phil Smith bought the knife.

What benefit (other than avoiding responsibility) do you get by placing blame on God for all the decisions made by man?

Initially, I thought those of you who did it were just mad, but it seems you seriously try to hold God responsible for Man's decision to use certain drugs to kill babies (ref. the abortion question earlier), the decisions to start a war (which is done to cover up malicious acts done by man), and other things (parents killing kids, loss of loved ones, being homeless, greed, murders, and slothful living).

No one can justify God doing this. He tells us the same thing he told Cain years back... "If you do good then good things will happen. If you do not do good, sin is waiting to devour you."

MAN chose not to do good, hince bad things are happening. Plain and simple, Simple and plain.

***The crazy thing about it is that the good things God bless us with (medicines, technology, health, clean water, shelter, forgiveness) are being taken for granted.

I normally associate an atheist with one who denies the existence of a higher being while an agnostic is one who is 'unsure' but I am not sure about the difference. A friend of mine said that atheists are constantly trying to refute religion. What does the difference between the two mean to you?

As I understand it the trinity is composed of the Father, Son (Jesus) and Holy Spirit.

Given that The Father and Holy Spirit are both imaginary and Jesus is dead and can no longer conduct activities doesn’t that make they identical from a functional standpoint?

So why have three different names?

then they were to leave that town and wipe the dust,, of the town,, off their feet and never go back. Could this be the way that we should treat the R & S category??? This category , to me, is mostly attacks on our beliefs of Lord God Almighty and Jesus Christ. Most posts are not seeking any kind of knowledge,, in truth as far as Jesus or God is concerned. I am so burned out with this category, I am ready to just walk away and never post in here again. I guess that would make satan happy.

.
NO... that certainly is not what being a real Christian means.
Being a real Christian means that once you have accepted Christ you will make a sincere effort to build on that realtionship with Him.
You will make efforts to be set apart.
You will make efforts to sin less.
You will make efforts to be who He has called you to be.
You will pray that your faith will be increased.
You will have compassion or pray to be more compassionate.
You will try...

Who ever said that you had to be perfect? We are all sinners saved by His grace.
