It had been raining for days and days, and a terrible flood had come over the land. The waters rose so high that one man was forced to climb onto the roof of his house.

As the waters rose higher and higher, a man in a rowboat appeared, and told him to get in. "No," replied the man on the roof. "I have faith in the Lord; the Lord will save me." So the man in the rowboat went away. The man on the roof prayed for God to save him.

The waters rose higher and higher, and suddenly a speedboat appeared. "Climb in!" shouted a man in the boat. "No," replied the man on the roof. "I have faith in the Lord; the Lord will save me." So the man in the speedboat went away. The man on the roof prayed for God to save him.

The waters continued to rise. A helicopter appeared and over the loudspeaker, the pilot announced he would lower a rope to the man on the roof. "No," replied the man on the roof. "I have faith in the Lord; the Lord will save me." So the helicopter went away. The man on the roof prayed for God to save him.

The waters rose higher and higher, and eventually they rose so high that the man on the roof was washed away, and alas, the poor man drowned.

Upon arriving in heaven, the man marched straight over to God. "Heavenly Father," he said, "I had faith in you, I prayed to you to save me, and yet you did nothing. Why?" God gave him a puzzled look, and replied "I sent you two boats and a ****ing helicopter, what more did you expect me to do?

The moral of the story is to recognize God when you see him. God was sending people to save the man, and answering his prayer for help, but the man never saw him. The drowning man didn't understand God, and the way he works. Did he expect God to show himself, and raise him up out of the water by using magic? Apparently he did. He was wrong. God works through people, he doesn't snap his fingers, and something is done. He is patient, and gives us all plenty of chances to see the right path to take. It is just a shame that like this man in the story, we don't always listen to Him.

We've all heard this joke before, usually without the un-necessary expletive.

The moral is that we often expect a miracle or for God to drop a neon sign in front of us when in truth God uses others as vehicles to perform His will all the time.

Why does God have to always part the seas, when there's a willing person with a boat just down the beach?

It addresses the folly of religious fundamentalism combined with static beliefs, bigotry and unrealistic expectations: "My God is better than your God 'cuz he does what I tell Him to do in exactly the way I expect Him to do it."

Guess what, you're wrong! Closedmindedness just gets you killed. Though that may not benefit you, it benefits the other people you made room for in two boats and a chopper.

It doesn't really make any sense. Wouldn't the guy be happier in heaven than he would be on Earth? I mean his house was just flooded, he would probably be in for a pretty difficult time if he'd survived. If you think about it, he's better off because he passed up the boats and the helicopter.

Very nice story! The moral is God sends you signs all the time yet your expecting a specific one. After he asked 2 times, what did he really expect! Some people are just stupid or lack religion in my opinion.

The moral is that when newscasters say that Katrina is coming... Leave New Orleans quickly!!! Don't depend upon the Dome as a shelter of last resort...

Perhaps he was saved and brought to the house of the Lord... Did you think of that??? Would have been a better ending...

Basically that God helps those who help themselves. Don't expect big signs in the sky saying "this is your miracle", take advantage of the everyday opportunities that appear before you. If you believe in God, then thank him for those very ordinary appearing opportunities.

the moral is that blind faith leadt to gross stupidity.

Actually in science it is called natural selection.

This moron weeded his faulty genes out of the genepool (assuming he didn't reproduce) thus making the world a better place for others without his line in it.

He would be a good candidate for a darwin award.
