Of course it's not in the Bible!
It's just the title given to a Parish Priest meaning "Revered" or "Respected".
"Revered One" = Reverend, get it?
Cheers!
Simon Templar
While you call a Priest "Reverend", anyone above the rank of Bishop is called "Eminence", by the way.

It is a title used to describe someone of the clergy. Prob. to show respect. Although the bible does not use these titles, it does talk about teachers which would in our days mean all those who teach the bible such as a Pastor, Reverend, Priest and so on.

No it;'s true...reverend isn't mentioned in the Bible....but neither are the words Chrysler, Slurpee or Hollywood.
Reverend is an English word essentially meaning one who reveres...as one who reveres the Lord.
