Yes, around 75% of religious people say they got their adult religion directly from what their parents believed. Brainwash 'em young and they probably wont ever think for themselves again.

Family is where you learn your tastes for and tolerance of spirituality - and also religion. You can live without religion, religion will leave you, but family generally will stick with you if you show the tiniest interest in it.
