Okay, so I was asked to be the godmother of my twin nieces. They were never baptised at baby's and well now they want me to do, which I'm all for. I know I need to take classes at the church with my nieces but I need to know what else I need to do. I know there's a party involved. I guess I'm wanting to know more info on their attire for the church. They're supposed to wear white, right? Could it be ANY white dress from like say "david's bridal"? Or does it have to be a specific type of material with certain types of designs? I'm wondering because I want to see how much I'm going to end up spending. LoL

From what I understand, a satanist is not the kind of person portrayed by the christian bible or evangelists where they go around sitting on people's shoulders telling them to commit sins, on killing sprees and drink innocent blood and bathe in fire, etc.

It's something I had recenly started thinking about. I mean, I know many of the beliefs that a christian holds, but what about someone who thinks of Satan the same way as one who might Jesus?

From what was explained to me, people are satanists because of the events that happened: He challenged god believing he should rule heaven, and was banished to hell with 1/3 of the angels from heaven (what I grew up learning in sunday school), or just by himself (according to a friend.) and that he has no remorse for any of it, apparently.

I would just like to know what the actual beliefs, and for someone to correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks!

My reading of the Bible doesn't give me any of the specifics of the mechanism of creation, which at best evolution does, the Bible simply says "In the beginning God...", no how given.

The only exception is in the creation of humanity where it says that God used clay which is essentially wet dirt, which we are if you render us into our components, once again no how given.

My Christian problem with evolution as a possible explanation of "how" is that the theory is too inefficient, why so much time, and has a tendency to lead people away from God not to Him.

From my view as a mechanical engineer evolution looks to be at best "reverse engineering" and is therefore invalid as it relies on inductive reasoning. Too much of it relies on what we know now and speculation of what things were like in the past. Viruses adapting to vaccines is not proof of particle to person evolution.

Once again, how does evolution contradict the Bible, as the Bible gives no specifics on the "how" of creation.

"The Bible is rather clear that homosexuality is an "abomination," as stated in Leviticus 18:22, just a few lines below the edict in Leviticus 11:10-12 stating that eating shrimp is an abomination."

These young people have been seriously wounded even lost limbs, while following orders and defending the interests of the United States of America. While medicine and science can give them artificial limbs and restore some of their functionality, they will never be the same again, unless God intervenes.

I am asking those of you strong in your faith (whatever faith it is Christians, Muslims, Jews, Wiccans, etc.) to pray to your God(s) and ask him/her to restore the limbs, charred flesh and devistated lives of these dedicated, deserving men and women.

If you think praying for all of them is too hard, may I suggest focusing on Robert Jackson (double amputee) and James Wright (single amputee). Pray that God gives Robert two new, healthy, strong REAL legs and James a new right arm. Pictures of Robert and James are here: http://www.thememoryhole.org/war/wounded/gallery.htm so there won't be any confusion.

Modern technology has caused us to think we're smarter than we are. In virtually every arena of life, we can now explain things that used to baffle our ancestors. So vast is our knowledge today that we tend to think nothing is valid until we can explain it. As a result, many people make the mistake of thinking they can't believe something unless they have all the facts and can explain how all the pieces fit together. But when it comes to matter of faith, that approach just doens't work. We may be smart, but there will always be things about life, death and heaven that we can't explain. And if we waited until we knew everything before we believed something, we'd never get anywhere. Fortunatley, Christianity is not based on a belief system anyway. It's based on an event that happened in history- Christ was crucified and raised Himself from the dead. We are surrounded by the unexplainable, yet confronted with the undenialbe.

Who do so many people who are adamantly atheist read and post Q&A in a forum about religion and spirituality? I respect other points of view, and understand the ones who are legitimately curious about faiths and other beliefs.... but that's not everyone. Some go to every single question, and say "because obviously God is not real..." or "because religion makes no sense" or "there is no evidence that God exists?" If you really believe it, why keep saying it over and over, as a generic answer to every question?

I am looking for real reasons, not being rude.

I mean, I don't believe in the tooth fairy, but I don't constantly post on tooth fairy message boards.

Now it's easy to link to 'friends' and follow their questions and answers.

But it is also just as easy for members who don't agree with someone to do this. And then all they need to do is report every posting until the account gets deleted.

Just a thought.

And no, it's a homage. Not a clone. Thank you.

Why, when many people have a question about the Bible, are they told that we can't possibly understand it since we are mere humans? Why wouldn't God give us a book we can understand? Wouldn't that be within his power? This concept just doesn't make sense to me honestly.

Considering the Catholic faith, he is Supposed to be there. Who is minding the store? And if Hell is going to be thrown into the Lake of Fire what happens to all those people who have been promised eternal damnation in the seventh ring of Hell? You can't have it both ways...

Why do creationist say there is no proof of evolution when so much can be found with a simple search on the internet, including the transitional fossils that they claim don't exist, and the observation of the development of new species through natural selection?

Heres a few famous quotes about faith:

"Faith: not wanting to know what is true."--Friedrich Nietzsche

"Faith, indeed, has up to the present not been able to move real mountains.... But it can put mountains where there are none."--Friedrich Nietzsche

“We may define "faith" as the firm belief in something for which there is no evidence. Where there is evidence, no one speaks of "faith." We do not speak of faith that two and two are four or that the earth is round. We only speak of faith when we wish to substitute emotion for evidence.”--Bertrand Russell

Why do we uphold "faith" as a virtue? I mean, in an advanced society, shouldnt it be mocked instead? Why would a "God" even want such a thing like "faith as a child"...how does this please him...I mean, you might as well replace that expression with "faith of a dog" or "faith of robot".

I've been studying quantum physics lately, and I find it very interesting. Especially Dr. Emoto, who did an experiment with water showing that it received the energies that were put into it and displayed those energies in frozen form. This experiment proves that our thoughts have tangible effects on reality. What are your thoughts on this discovery???

Hello!

I need a song for each of The Beatitudes. I already have one for blessed are the poor in spirit.

Though the Beatitudes are always the Beatitudes, These are the ones I must use (they were written out for me by someone organizing this activity):

Blessed are the poor in spirit....
Blessed are those who mourn....
Blessed are the meek....
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for justice...
Blessed are the peacemakers....
Blessed are the pure in heart.....
Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake...
Blessed are the merciful....

Thank you and God Bless :)
