I don't mind if they hand me a tract in passing or something like that, but don't like it when they come to my personal home. I am quite happy with my religion, and all the talking in the world from an uninvited stranger on my doorstep won't change that. How would they like it if I came barging into their home to tell them that my own religion was the only true path?

Well, not offended, but I do think handing out tracts to complete strangers isn't always the wisest thing to do. It kind of says to the person on the receiving end that they look like a good candidate for being an "ungodly" person or that they've been prejudged and were found 'lacking'. I've been handed tracts before I was saved, and promptly threw them in the trash. I don't think it's a good way to draw someone to Christ-but that's just my opinion. I know a few people who do it and I know lots more who are offended by it. I think if you want to help bring someone to the knowledge of Christ, you either need to know that person or that person needs to know something of who you are. If they know you're a kind & loving person who actually 'walks the talk', they'll be more responsive to listening to what you have to say.....IF you aren't 'preaching at them'. Nobody likes that. I think it's true that the best testimony is one that's seen and not just heard.

On one hand, I know they mean well and are trying to do something they think is nice for me. On the other hand, they are someone telling me what I believe isn't good enough, or as true as their truth, and that does offend me. I try not to get mad because of the first point I made, but it is difficult sometimes.

Generally no. I tell them that it's great that they are doing the Lord's work.
But...
The last time when someone handed me a tract, I told them that I was a practicing Catholic but that I appreciated what they were doing, they made me mad... "But have you accepted Jesus Christ as your personal savior? Just because you go to church doesn't mean you're saved."
I kindly said that to that young person that she need to be careful when using that response, that she may end up insulting people with that question and remark.
I'm pretty open-minded but when complete strangers begin to "pontificate" (ha ha) and presume that I have not earned my salvation, what kind of follower does that make them? Her church leaders need to teach her another thing or two.

I try not to. They are doing what they believe in their heart is the right thing and I'm all for tolerance. What gets uncomfortable is when they get in my face and start crying saying they want to save my soul. Even then I don't get mad or upset. I'll usually just starting quoting verse back at them (that theology degree was helpful after all) and watch THEM get uncomfortable when I force them to think outside of their script. I don't like to do it but sometimes there's no other choice.
Blessings,
Zimmi

Not offended so much as irritated. It's a very condescending act, to say "I know and you don't", when no one really knows. But I am polite about it, because I was raised tha tway.
However, if someone is going to come knocking on my door, I am swift and firm in my "Get the fock off my property".

Not at all. I politely tell them that I'm Muslim and don't believe what they believe (I'm talking about Jehovah Witnesses).

I'm with Jennie...it is irritating to have someone assume that I am ignorant of God and very irritating to have them come to my home to do so.
