Who do so many people who are adamantly atheist read and post Q&A in a forum about religion and spirituality? I respect other points of view, and understand the ones who are legitimately curious about faiths and other beliefs.... but that's not everyone. Some go to every single question, and say "because obviously God is not real..." or "because religion makes no sense" or "there is no evidence that God exists?" If you really believe it, why keep saying it over and over, as a generic answer to every question?

I am looking for real reasons, not being rude.

I mean, I don't believe in the tooth fairy, but I don't constantly post on tooth fairy message boards.

PS - I'm not at all talking about atheists who give thoughtful answers/questions, and just enjoy dialog about spirituality or religion or BOTH.

I'm asking why people spend so much time giving answers not meant to enter into dialog, but just to call the other person stupid. Such as:

Question: "To those who pray: do you remember prayers being answered in a specific way???"

Answer: "God's not real and prayer is a fantasy!!!!"

Why answer like that? lol- that's not an answer!! I'd even respect something like "I tried praying, and no... nothing happened so that changed my beliefs..."

It's not just atheists - some religious folks give the same type of answers!! Just wondering why??

I get your point,
It's childness, nothing else. It does compliment the religiouse fanatics though you have to admit.

they go together like yin and yan.

Not to sound rude either, but both sides do it. I've seen many Christians just post: "I will pray for you" or "God Bless", or "Jesus is Lord". It's because you get so tired of making the same points over and over again, but you can't give up the fight. I personally don't try to ever copy paste my responses, but when you get the same question.

Although I think someone should draw the line at rudeness, many spiritual people do not believe God (the Biblical God) exists, but that other entities exist, or they may see nature as an entity, or something else. Many spiritual people see religion as a bad thing because it causes so many wars. That doesn't mean they don't have their own private spirituality.

I never say the same thing. And I do it because I love to debate. Most people who get upset about opposing points of view are only upset because they don't want to think that maybe they're wrong. Are you included in this group? And I feel I'm doing people a service if I can get them to use their own logic and come to their own conclusion rather than believe the majority, or what they were taught.

This is an open discussion forum, or so I thought. And there is no specific section for atheists anyway. And if there were one I bet it would be crowded with godbelievers, too.

By the way, do you also think that only kings and queens should be admitted to the royalty section?

Do you see anyone trying to pass laws based on Toothfairyism? Does anyone, besides small children, give you a hard time for not believing in the tooth fairy?

You say this as if religion is a benign thing. It's not.

Because it's called Religion AND Spirituality not Religion, not Religious Spirituality.

Too many people here and in the broader world seem to feel that religion and god are requirements for spirituality. They are not.

LOL........EXCELLENT QUESTION!!! Another good question is why do "atheist" scream out things such as , "Oh God, Jesus, etc" in the time of crisis or an emergency. But all in all its very hypocritical of atheist to call believer hypocrits when they themselves are "hanging" around in places they dont even believe in.

Hey, maybe I should visit Narnia too........lol

I believe they want to get their two cents in to rack up points to get to the next level.

They will have to answer to their Creator for all the things they said and will say. Poor souls!

Many Atheists have studied religions far more than religious people before coming to their conclusions. Many like to correct false statements, help people, learn more. There are about as many reasons as there are posters.
