serious question

2007-03-15 10:40:08 · 30 answers · asked by Anonymous

Surely if God is almighty he would not want worship as the search for praise and acceptance is a human flaw and god is supposedly flawless. I would imagine him to be humble and rather we just spent our sundays like he did and take it easy, do something you enjoy doing and show your appreciation by being a good person. Instead of going to church, go to a sick kids ward and cheer up some terminally ill child. What would God rather you did?

Most who accept that catholics only ask for a saints intercession argue that the saints are dead and are awaiting resurrection... but how bout asking the angels to pray for you ... the angels are alive and in heaven with God right? what do you think?

Look Historically. The jews killed people for believing in christ, and christ himself. It wasnt excepted at first. Couldnt that be said the same as how scientology is being nailed to the cross with critisism....? Same could be said of mormons, and any other church said to be a cult. So why are we not attacking the mormons with everything we got, or any other.....I think its because scientology is a new religion...The christians themselves even killed people for not believing in christ, in my opinion if I had lived back, lets say, durning the crusades...I would have though it was a dangerous cult too. what do u think?

(yes im posting this question again because i didnt get a good enough answer.)

I know all about scientology, thank you.

I am Christian, and I truly want to do what glorifies God, but I am having difficulty with drugs. A lot of my friends do them, and I'm starting to think about doing them. Can anyone give me some encouragement to not do them??!

One of the "logical" questions atheists propose on here goes something like this: "why does an all powerful God care what we humans do?"

The logical answer is found in having children: You bring them into the world, feed them, clothe them, house them, nurture them, etc. If they grow up to be ungrateful, uncaring, lazy and disrespectful, would you be pleased with them?

There is a reason God refers to Himself as "Father". He has provided a world that perfectly sustains life, and wants a family that appreciates what He has created for them. He has allowed them freedom, which they have abused in every fashion possible. He has created standards by which they can be rewarded. However, man scoffs at Him and will do anything to avoid obeying Him and learning more about Him.

He sounds perfectly logical to me, why do atheists find any of this illogical?

The only difference is, instead of toys to good kids and coal to bad ones, he brings salvation to good people and damnation to bad people. If we all know that Santa doesn't exist, why do we think that God does? It's just as ridiculous a concept.

Atheists (and christians if you want) do you find it pretty cool that in the Qur'an it states that life came from water as science states?

Do not the unbelievers see that Allah created from water every living thing; will they not then believe. Anbiya 21:30

If you dont find that pretty interesting its ok but what are your thoughts?

You stupid cons probably never even read the Bible. The Bible says, for example, that children who are disrespectful to parents should be killed. Do you approve of that?

They're really asking some mean questions too! I saw a question about kissing God's butt. I'll tell you- that'd be the best kiss you ever got. Jesus loves you and so does God. Why do you hate him? He's offering eternal salvation!

Can I be rewarded with a new house?Or some money?I need those things.I have bills. So, how about it?What are the rewards I get?I don't mean the "love" or the "knowledge" or any other thing that my own mind can dream up.What are some tangible rewards that I can have right now?Or, is faith like buying time shares?Time shares aren't very popular to people who are planning a long future having realsitic piece of mind.Time shares are when you buy property that you can only visit at certain times.Isn't that a lot like faith? You believe in order to be somewhere tommorrow? What about the now?Where do you get to live now? What if you are poor, hungery, and homeless?Does God reward you with a home, food, and financial needs?

I ask this because people are always talking about the "rewards" they get for believing.Yet the only rewards they get can be attained through any self imposed emotional state of mind or delusion.Where are the "now" rewards?
