When you're a little kid you believe what your parents tell you and so if you are raised in a certain religion but once you hit the age of say 16 or so and you start to think for yourself and start to no longer believe, can you really claim that that person "lost their faith"?
Because is it even really faith to begin with if its just something you were taught as a child and your mind was too immature to think otherwise?
Is it fair to call someone a fallen-away christain in this case?

I honestly dont know the answer to this and wondering how others view it.

Just curious if you thought it would hurt to send up a pray directed at "whoever created us" to idenify themselves to you? If there isn't a God, then you're praying to no one so you haven't lost anything, but if God does exist, he might just send you a personal revelation. Not trying to change anyone's mind, just curious what you think about the idea and why.

I recently have, and I'm concerned about it. The only explaination is that God was amused at my response to Jesus when He said He was mad at me.

A question was asked about the etymology of two words:
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AuRjeh6vIk_F3qAZjNDrQDvsy6IX?qid=20070315134820AAQfOku&show=7#profile-info-AA10781874

I posted nothing but factual information - the etymologies of the two words. I cited my source. I received two thumbs-up - and two thumbs-down.

What kind of mind does it take to oppose facts?

Okay, maybe you can answer this for me. Do you think there is a real connection between global warming and the end of the world with Jesus's return?

Catholics think that there is hell and paradise after life, Jews think that hell and paradise do not exist. Muslim men think that after death they will be in the company of virgins, Christians don't think so. Hindus believe that a cow is a sacred animal, Christians don't think so. Jews think that God chose them for a certain purpose, Christians disagree with that.

Serial killers incarcerated in prisons frequently tell to journalists that "God told them" to kill their victims.

And so on...

Why does God say different things to diofferent people?

It seems like only the Jews are really even capable of decently respecting other cultures. I know Israel, the country, is embattled, but as a religion, Judaism has never come close to the atrocities of Christianity and Islam.
(On the other hand, the Mormons are pretty decent too, and they are, more or less, the most recent evolution.)

I mean no Garden of Eden equals no original sin equals no god that would be mad at you for something you didn't do. Why in the world would you cling to that over evolution, where nature is set in motion and always leaves room for PROGRESS, which includes religious/spiritual progress? Do you really prefer a god that hates you?

Aren't the similarities interesting. Soon after adopting Christianity, the Roman Empire collapsed. Unable to sustain itself due to a bloated empire, religious expansionism, greed and an over-extended military. Sound familiar?

"I'm just too damn lazy to open another book, so can you please put six years of your education into a short answer about evolution, please? Not that i'm gonna read it, I already told you how lazy I was, didn't I ?"

It was at the conference of Nicea in about 553 AD I believe, when the faschist catholic church removed most of the references to Karma and reincarnation from the Christian Bible. They didn't want us to have control over our own communications with the God source. I'm only saying the truth as I know it.

It seems like they just overgeneralize based on the fake religious people that get talked about in the media like ann coultry and pat robertson, rather than from a real understanding of religion. But it's rather convenient that they never mention the people like Martin Luther KIng or Gandhi. Because since when has an atheist done more in terms of major social progress than say Martin Luther KIng or Gandhi to be talking like that?

This question was brought up in one of my classes, and I was disappointed in the lack of discussion about it. I have my own thoughts about it; I'd like to know what others think.

Think about if government rigidly controlled people's sexual practices. Or just tell me the first ideas/concerns that come to mind when you think of a partnership between sexuality and nationhood.

Looking forward to your responses ...
