Just curious if you thought it would hurt to send up a pray directed at "whoever created us" to idenify themselves to you? If there isn't a God, then you're praying to no one so you haven't lost anything, but if God does exist, he might just send you a personal revelation. Not trying to change anyone's mind, just curious what you think about the idea and why.

It would be a waste of my time. I don't bother talking to fairies or unicorns, either.

I think that the reason most atheist are atheists is that we have done this dozens of times...prayed believing and Nothing Happened.

Then after cursing God, nothing bad happened either. A personal experiment I conducted was I would pray three times a day, tithe, sacrifice, fast until positive change happened. No positive change.

Then I lived recklessly and nothing bad happened...as a matter of fact, when I quit titheing to stupid religious churches, I actually had more money. When I quit fasting, I was healthier. When I quit sacrificing, I was happier and had more time to be productive.

I don't know a single atheist who hasn't done the same experiment. The only difference is that we are honest with the results and those of you that swear prayer helps, are fooling yourselves...afraid to face facts. God is imaginary. You will get as many revelations from praying to your dog or a jug of milk as to any other imaginary power.

Get off you azz and do whatever it is you want to be magically supplied for you. Spit in one hand and pray in the other and see which gets full fastest.

Be honest. Don't give the lame excuse that "GOD" answers prayers in three ways: Yes, No and Later. A jug of milk does that too. So does the magic butterfly and Santa Claus.

YES, NO and LATER...what a cop out...what other choices are there? Any result will still prove the easter bunny, right?

It's a moot point. Would you go into a forest to look for a pot of gold to convince you that leprechauns exist. A personal revelation is anecdotal and would not be evidence to anyone else. Since the bible makes claims of believers with powers of healing and immunity to poisonings and snake bites...why can't the christians pray to regenerate the lost limb of a child or drink Drano in front of a room of skeptics and scientists. these actions would definitely catch the attention to a lot of non-believers.

I say just let them be who they are. Athiest don't need Christians trying to change thier minds all the time. It won't hurt you if they don't believe. You aren't going to go to Hell if you don't convert everyone to believe what you do. I promise. Just because they don't pray and believe in God don't mean they are bad people out doing nothing but sinful acts. Leave them alone.
I have prayed to God myself and I'm a christian. But no prayer of mine has ever been answered. Besides God gives you the power to change your life, he won't "actually" send down a sign.

Rather silly, though... And maybe (s)he doesn't want your prayers.

"Pray: To ask the laws of the universe to be annulled on behalf of a single petitioner confessedly unworthy." -- Ambrose Bierce

"When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle. Then I realised that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me." -- Emo Philips

Been there, done that.
Prayed with tears and fasting... (and I'm not kidding) as I found my study of the bible was making it less and less believable.
But I found no confirmation why I shouldn't do other than follow my conviction and sense of honesty and leave Christianity.

And there's just a shade of Pascal's there so I'll just have a sip.

I am an atheist. I have tried that when I was a christian early in my life. It didn't work. So, instead of me wasting my time, why don't you pray to your god to show himself to me on your own time?

I will let you know as soon as your prayers are answered.

If I spent my day praying to every god people said existed, I'd run out of hours and have to start again. Then I'd miss "Grey's Anatomy".

Let's see, I'll pray to someone who doesn't exist to give me a sign that he exists to prove that he exists when I know he doesn't exist. Then, when I don't receive a revelation, it'll confirm my belief that he doesn't exist.

Yes, it is as stupid as it sounds.
