Love Martin Luther....wish people would stop being Pharisees though, some smokers and soda drinkers are more honest than hypocrites who lie, cheat, steal and cover up for pedophiles and other thieves. A churrch can impose rules that are not necessarily Biblical truth. Example: You can't wear makeup or wear sandals or pants, if you are a woman. You cannot drink, even though te scriptures talk about Over indulgence of alcohol. Alcoholics should never have a drink, but yet they make it a rule that sounds like Biblical law, when it isn't. some denominations go so far as to substitute wine with grape juice or water for communion... The two are different.

Women are discouraged from becoming ministers or priests and you find in both Old and New Testaments that God is not a respector of person. He does not care about race or gender! Acts 10, Leviticus 19:15. There are denominational differences, that are taken out of context and taken advantage of by those who want to control the actions of others, by tradition in error! True religion, carefully seek out the scriptures for truths precept upon precept and seeks to find the Biblical definition in the Hebrew and Greek texts as the original writings suggest.

Jesus warned against Pharisee types of people that follow the letter of the Law and not the spirit of it! He added only One commandment to the original 10, "Love one another " in John 13:34

For me the biggest contradictions in religion is as follows:
1. We say one thing--then we do not practice what we say.
2. We tell others what they should do. WE are bad examples of the believer
3. the bible says and we ignore it in our daily lives
enough for a now
"But be thou an example of the believer...."
Have you ever heard the following....I don't want to be a fanatic....

Some Christian try to live what the Bible says. These people you will find to be happy in the Lord.

I don't have a list of contradictions but I will answer your question. When you find that a branch of a religion has contradictions, you will have found that it was someone who pretty much thought they knew it all and tried to shape the original beliefs into thier lifestyle because the original didn't suit them as well.

Departed said that the Bible contradicts itself in that God says do not kill and He also says that vengeance is mine. Obviously departed does not read or have the spirit of discernment. These two scriptures do not contradict one another. The full statement tells us NOT to repay and eye for an eye. Vengeance is Gods and he will take care of it. It says do not kill because He will judge those needing to be judged. I pray that departed recieves the HOLY Spirit who will reveal the truth to him

Any book that that profess to say it is from God, that book will be free from contradictions.

The Bible is full of contradictions, how can this be from God, it is man's handiwork.

Seen it quite a few times.
Changed churches many times.
Left church for 11 years.
Went back to see if anything changed.
Yes it did.
The people had left only 5 left from the old bunch of 11 years ago.
Pastor still teaching the same old thing.
No growth.
No fire.
No power.
SO I hang out to put in the zinger to keep them on their toes.
The hammer of the WORD.

I will confine my remarks to Christianity, as I find little or no truth in any other faith tradition.

I sent the last 47 years studying every religion known to man, and every single one of them, with the exception of the Roman Catholic Church, takes liberties with God's truth, not just as written in scripture, but in many other ways, as well.

There are 31,000 different contradictions, ranging from the nature of Jesus Christ, to the nature of God, to the meaning of Christ's own words, and to the meaning and authenticity of the Bible itself.

And when it comes to understanding the actual theological and practical "mechanism" of our redemption in Christ, all bets are off!

It is not only the various religions but the bible itself that can be explained against itself. In the middle ages there was a scholar who gave out a book with the title "sic et Non-sic" meaning, it is so and not so.
