many pagan traditions were brought into christian holidays in order to assist in the conversion of the pagans to Christianity.

How is Easter a pagan holiday? Certainly it has pagan origins, as does almost every other holiday we celebrate, save perhaps Independence day! But it is not a pagan holiday, because we are not celebrating the goddess of fertility, or father time, or anything else like that.
Interestingly enough, the basis for Easter actually comes from a Jewish holiday, passover. On the last supper, it was passover, a time of feasting, celebration, and remembrance for the Jews, of when the Lord's spirit "passed over" the hebrews and spared them, but brought calamity to the egyptians.
Christians celebrate this day as good friday, the day when Jesus was arrested, ironically not a very good day for him. Easter celebrates Jesus's ressurection, his rising from the dead. The chocolate bunnies and eggs are the pagan aspect thrown in for good measure, but certainly not the basis of the holiday!
hope that cleared things up! God bless!

I most definately will and no, eggs and rabbits are symbols of Ostara, and the vernal equinox sabbat that pre-dates Christianity.
And since when is celebrating the return of spring, growth and the renewal of life that appears on the earth after winter negative?
I guess they don't plant spring bulbs or a garden then? Or rejoice when the trees bursts into bloom and then leaf out after a cold hard winter? Or see the songbirds bring their babies out to feeders and teach them to eat? What a cold and lonely world you must live in if you cannot enjoy simple pleasures like these and celebrate them!
That is what the previous person is calling a negative pagan holiday. I for one would not pass judgement on something I know nothing of, and certainly not from a brief wikipedia entry that can be changed by anyone who thinks the definition is wrong. I would be striving to understand it more before pronouncing judgement upon a few sentences I happened to read somewhere...but I guess not all Christians were raised the way I was.

Oh man I have checked out "easter" for myself, and I totally agree that mny of the traditions belong to Pagan holidays. I call it resurrection sunday now. One thing I can say to spin it a little is that isn't it awesome that God changed a negative ritualistic pagan holiday into a beautiful and significant christian holiday.
I still dye eggs for the kids but they know what resurrection sunday is vs the silly easter egg hunt for fun.

The Pagan holiday is Vernal Equinox, the Christianized form being Easter. But everyone already knows that.

I will enjoy the cultural events as the seasons change. I see nothing that is disrespectful to my Lord as I have some fun in life.. I will keep in my heart the most important aspect of the Christian life.. The Resurrection! I will praise my Lord for the gift of life that I have already received and thank Him for the gift of sharing eternity with Him.... Jim

Why do people devour candy canes at Christmas, and supply Hearts packed with chocolate on Valentine's Day? it is not a connection to Biblical events, yet customs that have more advantageous in the process the time in view that.

The Easter bunny is the anti Christ and is a delusion to forget the true meaning of Easter. But Christ actually lived for our sins not died. You can't kill a pure devotee. He didn't die he went on preaching after he left the cave. Google gospelofthenazirenes.c for the original new testament before King Constantine misconstrued so many things.- Christ originally taught karma, reincarnation, Vegetarianism, Hell being temporary karmic place. etc.

lol....The last time I really celebrated Easter was with my best friend and her family, all non-Christians. She and I cooked a huge Easter dinner for us and her brothers, ham, mashed potatoes, cornbread, the whole works. I even made the 3 of them Easter baskets. We spent the whole dinner with them asking me to explain Easter. It was funny, a whole nice, friendly non-Christian Easter. And we all had a great time.

NOT ME & you are correct that Easter is more pagan in the way that it is celebrated in this day and time. However, I am very thankful that Jesus gave his fleshly body to enable me to get to Heaven.
