"You atheists claim to know everything, but you cannot, therefore you cannot disprove God".

Religionists...one doesnt have to know everything to have a sound basis for rejecting religion. One doesnt need to know everything to know evolution. Once you understand evolution, beyond the simplistic ape-to-man diagram, all religion falls aside like water off a duck.

"Oh yea, well how do get evolution from nothing!"

Cant get something from nothing right? So something has always been and nothing never was, as nothingness. Anyway, you dont need to be able to unravel every facet of evolution before you have already recieved enough evidence to reject "personal God" theories. The mechanism of evolution utterly destroys that.

"You are all arrogant! How can you know!"

Well, the term "arrogant" is a hateword meant to shout down, or in the Islamic world 'kill', the unbelievers. Is there anyway to not be arrogant when one choses to reject religion and discuss his views?

The Trinity . . . . . .

God has three parts: the father, son and the Holy Spirit

Like time has three parts: past, present and the future. Do you not relate to the past, present and future as all being TIME?

I ask this b/c I see this on here all the time (or I should say all the present?)

See water can be liquid, steam and ice. Many things have three components. When it comes to God it must be ridiculous though. I just don't get it.

Please explain why this is a misunderstood concept in your opinion if you would. Or for believers give other good examples of a component that has three parts.

Respectfully I Thank you

Suppose we are walking down the country road at night. We look down at the ground and suddenly we see a snake and become frightened. Then we turn our flashlight on it. We look again and we see that there is only a rope, no snake. The rope was there all along, never a snake, but the rope appeared to us to be a snake because our sight was obscured by the darkness, because we did not focus our light on it. As a result of seeing a snake we became filled with fear and worry. When we found that it was only a rope, the appearance of the snake dissolved. We can compare the snake to the idea of self or ego, the flashlight to wisdom, and the rope to the complex of five aggregates.

They tell Christians not to put their faith in God but they don't mind putting their faith in scientists. Not every thing can be proven by science. How can you state as a fact that God isn't real?

If you don't believe in Jesus, you spend an eternity in excruciating pain and suffering. Isn't there something wrong here? Does this seem just? I have a problem with this. I just want to understand.

I posted this under Science too, just for some more answers.

At school the really religious kids keep telling me about how Stephen Hawking proved the existance of a higher being through quantum physics, but they never tell me what the experiment was. I figure if it's true, then the Christian Right would've grabbed a hold and never let go of it in the media, and quite frankly everyone would believe in God (since there would be proof of it). Anyone mind pointing me to the direction of this proof? I can't find it anywhere

"Creation you dolt!!".

Sorry, thats circular. Calling it "creation" assumes it was created, as opposed to a product of totally random forces interacting of billions of years.

"Miracles!"

Ok, that might count if we could only find things that cannot be explained via science and only explained by the existance of a God. Still waiting for one "miracle" that stands up to scrutiny, although I wish there was such a thing.

"There is no evidence, you must take it on faith"?

Why? Ever thought about that? I mean, I used to think the concept of "faith" was special too, but then I thought about it. I mean, basically all your saying is that "I chose engage in wishful thinking based on nothing other than my hopes".

If God did exist, would he really be impressed with that?

"Yes he would, he wants us to have faith like a dog".

You mean faith like a child, and for the life of me, I cant figure out what the heck is virtuous about that or why I ever accepted it.

Anything that is fun soon becomes sin from alcohol to sexual preferences. Is it because pleasure robs time from the productive output of an individual and harmful to society economically? Is it an old time conspiracy, a result of collusion between the King and the Head-Priest. "Declare all forms of mirth a sin so that the peasants bag more. If you succeed I will hand them over to you as your most loyal disciples enforced by the most trusted of my guards."
It is in this vein most sin and stigma seem to be relegated to the lower economic classes while the elite routinely commit "SIN" as we read about them in awe in various celebrity magazines praying in terror on our next visit to the seminary lest we dare commit such transgressions. What is your favorite sin?

What do you think of a religious cross as a tattoo? I've been thinking of getting a really small one on the side of my wrist. I'm just not too sure whether it's a good thing, or if it's bad to do that as being a a Catholic.
I'm open to any criticisms, whether you think that it's bad to do as a Christian, or if it's all right.

do you think God has put this 1st commandment for a joke?
"you shall not take other gods before Me"

Matthew 19:17
And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.

do you think Jesus was joking when he seperates himself from God in the above verse?

if u r going to urge after showing you this, then ur disbelieving is unbelievable and too much stubborn.

To be an atheist requires an indefinitely greater measure of faith than to recieve all the great truths which atheism would deny.
