Respectfully, why would you expect people who are not of your faith to understand the concepts of your faith? They don't understand it because it has never been explained to them. Even your explanation, which illustrates the concept beautifully, only leads to a partial understanding. Understanding the manifestations of this trinity would be a whole different lesson. For example, liquid does not pray to ice for answers, yet Jesus looked to His Father for answers frequently?
In any case, I thank you for teaching me something new today.
May your God bless you as mine has blessed me!

Here goes this argument again. Good question, though.
First off, none of the holy men before Jesus and Jesus himself never mentioned a prayer to the trinity. This concept was foreign even to the alleged 'founder' of christianity, Jesus. Abraham, Jacob/Israel, Moses, Jonah, etc. NEVER once prayed to the father/son/holy spirit trinity.
Second, in the language of the Israelites, 'Father' was one of the names of God simply in order to acknowledge the fact that He is the Creator, just like YHWH (or Yehowah/Jehovah), and Adon were, just as the muslims have 99 names for God.
And lastly, the concept of the polytheistic trinity is incorrect due to the fact that these three godheads MUST be co-eternal, co-substantial, and co-equal.
Time WOULD'VE been a good example, except for the fact that time is not co-eternal. The past may have been the future at one point, and the future will be the past one day, but we live in the infinite present. Once the future is come, it's no longer the future. And once the present becomes the past, it's no longer the present. Which means that none of the trinity can exist at the same time as the other.
Water is a TERRIBLE example, because when water is steam, it is NEITHER ice NOR liquid, and when it is liquid, it is NIETHER steam NOR ice, etc. Thus none of the trinity could exist as the same substance at the same time EVER. Therefore, it could NEVER be co-substantial.
And the trinity could NEVER be co-equal, because to commence prayer, you start with the father first, then son, then holy spirit. If they were equal, then there would be no problem WHATSOEVER in saying, 'in the name of the son, the father, and the holy spirit'. or 'in the name of the holy spirit, the son, and the father'.
'...God is not the author of confusion, but of peace...' - Bible, 1 Corinthians 14:33
'PROVE all things; hold fast that which is good.' - Bible, 1 Thessalonians 5:21
And if you believe that logic is good, then you accept that mathematics is good, because it is logical, correct? If so, then tell me where in mathematics could 1+1+1 ever equal 1?
I hope you can understand...
Knowledge is Power; Power is Freedom; Freedom is Peace...
So may Peace be upon you...

Because unlike water, we can't see God, and trying to imagine how these parts differ is very confusing. If the Holy Spirit is the spirit of God, where is the body? Isn't God all spirit? How can one being be both father and son? And finally, why? Why would God be divided, rather than one entity?
These are the questions that come to mind when I think of the Trinity.

First of all i am going to have to tell you that you need correction!! Don't be trying to teach the world about this subject , about what the father , son and infilling if the holy spirit mean, when you yourself have a worldly mind!! Stick to science or what ever misconception may be spoken, because that what this sounds like. You are accountable and will have to answer to Christ himself for telling the world about him this way. Now, i suggest you get into the word of God and study, really study about the word and you can never go wrong explaining scripture the way Christ did. Kenneth E Hagins book 'The Holy Spirit and his gifts" could be a great help. But your going to have to put on a Godly mind to understand and get rid of your scientific approach. Respectful to Christ foremost

So then why does Jesus pray to God? Jesus even pleads for his own life from God. Why?
Why did Jesus talk about the Holy Spirit as separate from God? What's the difference? How is God the Father NOT the Holy Spirit?
Doesn't having "God the Son" present on earth separate God into some multiple - personality - disordered divinity?

An egg... (Perhaps this is why we have Easter eggs. Three days in the grave, and then Resurrection.) Eggs have a shell, the albumen (white stuff), and yolk.
Also St. Patric used a clover to teach the Celts about the trinity and when he found a four leaf clover he used the forth leaf to represent God's amazing grace and love.
God Bless!!!

Sun (God the father), rays (God the son), heat (God the holy spirit)
Rays proceed from the sun, Jesus proceeds from GOd the father, the holy spirit is w/in if we believe, heat can be applied in this sense if in the sun's presence.
The Trinity is a mystery that is hard for humans to grasp. We believe because of faith

Some people only want to accept things if they can fully understand them. The trinity is just one of those things that the Bible teaches that we fully do not comprehend yet it is THERE! We all deal with it in different ways and the goofy response from anti-Trinitarians is just to deny and spin it. Go figure.
Whoever acknowledges me before men, I will also acknowledge him before my Father in heaven. But whoever disowns me before men, I will disown him before my Father in heaven -Matthew 10:32

I agree with you completely. I don't know if I understand it, but I totally accept it. For my example I would say:
Mind
Body
Spirit
God
Jesus
Holy Spirit
*Hey, Father Know-it-all, Just because it was condemned by some body of the "religious" doesn't make it wrong.
