Why not 145,000 or 9 billion or an infinite? This means that only cavemen are in Heaven and no one else will ever be able to go to Heaven no matter what they do. How could anyone know there are 144,000 places in Heaven anyway?

Somehow it makes sense to me. You pray for this and that- strength to get through a tough time, shelter from evil- whatever you may be praying for. Isn't that similar to a positive affirmation that you will in fact muster the strength or avoid situations that are not healthy? Are there others that believe this?

For example, many choose to condemn Christianity for various indecent acts performed by those claiming to be Christians. However, those same mouths that condemn an entire religion by the actions of a few, never recognize the amount of charity work done daily by the same religion.

Why is that?

today I hear from news (BBC)that christian soldier rape Muslima girl (14 years old only) and after that they kill her with her mother & father and her younger sister and then he try to burn her body (like what church do in the past when it burned all who dont believe in trinity) this is not first story and not last what is you opinion?

To make a long story short some guy was trying to scam me out of my money, by sending me a fake check to buy my car that I posted online and then having me wire the rest of the money to some guy who would ship it to him in Nigeria and I played along with him the whole time, to waste his time and make him mad, until I finally told him off and now he sent me this, I already reported him to the police.

I was shocked by some of the answers by the religous types , they said maybe the girl would have died in a car accident or diagnosed with cancer the next day ........ that still does not absolve God from being a silent witness to the rape.

Dont you think its better to die in a car accident than be gang-raped ...... gosh what kind of a God allows gang rape , and if he did then the rapist were simply doing Gods work , no human judge has the right to punish those doing Gods deeds

I want people who are athiest to tell me why they are athiest, give YOUR personal reasons for being 100% sure religion is bogus. On the other hand I want religious people to give me their personal reasons for believing.


For me, it just makes no sense to believe in any religion. I feel it answers no questions, just masks them with fairytale answers i.e. you suffer on earth and will one day walk through "pearly gates" live in a "mansion" in heaven next to God. I hear things like this and it re-enforces my understanding that religion is man-made because heaven and its beauty is clearly designed from a human perspective.


Religion, specifically christianity which I am personally familiar with, offers no reason for our existence other than that God was lonely and needed company...Come on!


I welcome answers from all angles..Religious and non religious, any religion.
Sensible answers only please.

The conclusion to be drawn from the study was that high levels of irreligion do not automatically result in a breakdown of civilization, a rise in immoral behavior, or in "sick societies." From small-town school boards to the floor of the Senate, conservative Christians are championing religion as the solution to America's societal problems. However, their pious "solution" is highly dubious and clearly not supported by the best available research of social science.

Belief in God may provide comfort to the individual believer, but, at the societal level, its results do not compare at all favorably with that of the more secular societies. When seeking a more civil, just, safe, humane, and healthy society, one is more likely to find it among those nations ranking low in religious faith-contrary to the preaching of religious folks.
