I believe it happened.
But what has that got to do with Christianity? Do you live in a theocracy, or in a country that does not distinguish between secular and religious culture? Having served 5 years in the military, there is a 99% chance that the soldiers in question have never set foot in Christian Church, read a Christian Scripture, or prayed to the Christian God. Unlike some countries, it is possible to live your whole life in the United States without even thinking about Christianity. We are not all Christians, our armies are not Christian armies, most of our politcal leaders are not practicing Christians.

There is a good example. In your neck of the woods, only a Muslim is named Muhammed. Over here, a kid could be named Saint John the Baptist of Our Lady of the Holy Pope, and yet not know Christianity from a hole in the ground. That is secularism - a society where religion is a preference and a choice, not a birthright. Of the many friends that I grew up with, only three or four had ever been inside an actual Christian Church. The others were simply "not religious." When I was in the military, our ship of 150 sailors had regular services every Sunday morning. There were 5 regulars in attendence over a 5 year period. That is secularism. It is not only possible, it is likely, that an American will be a-religious. They are not opposed to religion per se, they just have never thought about it, and have never bothered to look into it. I only met a handful people on my ship who actually claimed the label of "Christian." I did not claim to be a Christian - but some guys saw me reading a Bible one day. From that day foward, I was nicknamed "the preacher." One guy even tried to get me to conduct a wedding ceremony! And all that because I got caught reading a Bible before bed. The ironic part is that I was reading "the Gnostic Bible" - it wasn't even a Christian book!

Choice. It's all about choice. When you are a Christian.....TRUE Christian... I don't feel if you have been converted you would do something like this. Some people just call themselves Christians becaiuse they went to Church or said the words that the accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior, but they don't show it in their life. Even with that, we are all still human and make bad choices. We don't stop sinning, but we try to limit it. Becoming a Christian (a true one) does not stop you from having problems, trials, and sin.

Likewise, other faiths have their fair share of people that do bad things. This man will have to answer to someone far greater than the courts for this....but we all will in the end.

As far as you church burning theory, you are wrong. The crusades and burning churches were not brought about by TRUE christians, even they were persecuted. The Roman Catholic church catapulted into power due to Constantine donning crosses on their uniforms to deem his attempt for world domination as a "holy war". It's alot like Muslim extremists blowing themselves up in a crowd of their own people and saying it is jihad.....pointless.

Two things. First, I read the BBC article and it says nothing about Christian or Muslim. I assume you're talking about the American soldier/Iraqi girl tragedy. The article refers to them by nationality, not religion.

Second, let's suppose the soldier is a Christian. Anyone who claims that those who identify with Christianity are better or different than anyone else is lying to you. All people, including professing Christians, sin, sometimes in the worst way.

I would add the caveat that it is doubtful that the young man was spending any time daily focusing on the Lord. Identifying with a religion and focusing on it are very different things.

So, are saying that this soldier belonged to the Christian Army?
Didn't know there was a Christian Army. He may have been a Christian and she may have been a Muslim, but the religion of either of them has nothing to do with the story.

Of course all Christians must accept that some maybe bad, that has been all thoughout history, so what is your point?

Christians should not go to war.............

While on earth, Jesus demonstrated how to replace hatred with unselfish love, commanding: “Love one another, just as I have loved you.” (John 15:12) He also said: “Happy are the peaceable.” (Matthew 5:9) Here the Greek word for “peaceable” means more than enjoying a state of tranquillity. It really entails cultivating peace, actively working to promote goodwill.

When Jesus was being arrested, the apostle Peter tried to defend him with a lethal weapon. But the Son of God reprimanded him, saying: “Return your sword to its place, for all those who take the sword will perish by the sword.” (Matthew 26:52) How did first-century Christians apply those words? Note the following quotations.

“A careful review of all the information available [shows] that, until the time of Marcus Aurelius [121-180 C.E.], no Christian became a soldier; and no soldier, after becoming a Christian, remained in military service.”—The Rise of Christianity.

“The behavior of the [early] Christians was very different from that of the Romans. . . . Since Christ had preached peace, they refused to become soldiers.”—Our World Through the Ages.

Because Christ’s disciples refused to serve in the emperor’s legions, the Romans put many of them to death. Why did Christians maintain such an unpopular stand? Because Jesus taught them to be peacemakers.

This is a story that makes me sad to hear. I am a Christian and it is not right that someone would get treated this way by someone else. There are multiple uses of the word Christian. One refers to someone who is involved in a christian religion, such as the protestant church or catholic church. This christian would be in contrast to a muslim or buddhist, etc. A Christian can also mean someone who has decided to follow the teachings and lifestyle of Jesus Christ, who is the Son of God. This type of Christian is not simply labeled with religion, but whose life is characterized by the results of a relationship with Jesus. This type of true Christian would not commit such an act against another person because Jesus Christ would never do such a thing himself. I believe in this story, christian is referred to in contrast of the muslim religion.

~ Hado...

~ First... I don't trust the media... truth is not an option for them... they are mandated to say what the money behind them wants them to publish...

~ Second... No, as a Christian I do not accept that type of violence and sin. I have to give it to the Lord for his Justice is what will be given out... in His good time... and His good will...

~ Third... In these end times, we have to know tha Satan is trying SOOOooooo hard to Kill, Rob and Destroy everyone that has breath... He's got everyone except the Christians...

~ That's my opinion and I'm stickin' to it.

Not anymore than I accept the Taliban beating women for hearing their footsteps, husbands setting up their wives so they can be free of them by way of honor killings, or Saddam's rape and torture rooms and gassing of whole villages.

Put it into perspective. There is usually a sick one in every group, but let's count the incidents, shall we?

And people can say they are of a certain religion without being of one, even though they didn't specify his religion as you are trying to say. Let's think about the 9/11 terrorists going to the strip club and drinking and smoking before killing thousands of innocent people; Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Jewish and others alike.
