I prayed years ago that God would send a spouse.I have noticed something happen that makes me wonder about the whole dating thing. A man approached me and basically claimed that God sent him to me.I didn't even have an interest in being his friend. I was told that I was in pride for not acceping his belief. I got angry because I felt this was a manipulating situation and left the church because he rallied his friends around me to make me feel bad about myself. I did not take the matter to the pastor . Later on I felt I made a mistake leaving over him so I went back and admitted to the pastor that I left over an offense. Now I am sensing the same thing happening again with a differnt man. The pastor teaches the scripture that states If you have faith when you pray, you'll recieve what your believing for based on faith.I think it is in Matthew.I feel that these men are manipulating this scipture to try to get to my conscience.I have kids and need to be picky not prideful. Any advice?

Refering to the other guys question in this:

And the answers given,

Tell me.

Who says it's alright to take and use out of context verses to justify your needs? Did you ever tried reading the verses before that or the verses after that? To those who took verse 9:5, I dare you you to show everyone here verse 9:6 and verse 9:7.

Even in the Bible, I could pull that trick.

Revelation 21:8 "...And all liars have their place in the lake of fire.".

Second, tell me.

I heard Christianity preach so much about "Love thy neighbour" and "do not judge others". But wait, the Christians I see these days do not judge others and they do not love their neighbours. How come? I though you guys preach this?

All I'm saying is this; Never judge a religion by a follower, judge a religion by it's teachings. (Proper teachings, not out of context.)

How people spout off that i'm going to hell, or just blatantly laugh in your face because a little book says:

"thou should not suffer a witch to live"

How about "thou should not suffer a persecutor to live"

Your thoughts on this?

Happiness and life are two different things; and it's no wonder that men came to ascribe bliss to the dead alone.

Does the standard of life you lead not mean a jot in the Christian faith uless you recognise Jesus? Could you live a life of philanthropy and endless kindness, only to (in the eyes of the Christian faith) be lost upon your demise from this earthly plain?

Did Jesus actually say this (please no long bible quotes)?

Surely if one person proclaims themselves a Christian, but still leads a bad life (perhaps in private), they will not end up in the same boat as someone who led a gentle, loving life but never even mentioned the name Jesus?

I was just wondering this Christian viewpoint, as I am curious. I don't mean to offend, should this be the case.

Thanks!

Honestly speaking, If you're not a muslim, have you ever seen or read any of these verses in the Qur'an?

[10.99] And if your Lord had pleased, surely all those who are in the earth would have believed, all of them; will you then force men till they become believers?

[2.256] There is no compulsion in religion; truly the right way has become clearly distinct from error;

[60.8] Allah does not forbid you respecting those who have not made war against you on account of (your) religion, and have not driven you forth from your homes, that you show them kindness and deal with them justly; surely Allah loves the doers of justice.

Or any similar verse,

Once the Prophet was asked, "Who are the chosen people of God?"

He replied, "The truthful and the pure-hearted."

"O Prophet of Allah," they said, "truthful we understand, but who are the pure-hearted?"

"Those who neither fall into sin, nor transgress, who neither deceive nor bear malice. Such are the pure of heart."
