Honestly speaking, If you're not a muslim, have you ever seen or read any of these verses in the Qur'an?

[10.99] And if your Lord had pleased, surely all those who are in the earth would have believed, all of them; will you then force men till they become believers?

[2.256] There is no compulsion in religion; truly the right way has become clearly distinct from error;

[60.8] Allah does not forbid you respecting those who have not made war against you on account of (your) religion, and have not driven you forth from your homes, that you show them kindness and deal with them justly; surely Allah loves the doers of justice.

Or any similar verse,

EDIT:

Sho-nuff: the verses regarding war are specific, instructing during war, these verses are general, If you (and all the others) would just do a little research on these verses and the occasion for their revelation (From a neutral source).

To be honest I know very little about Islam, I went to school with about 3 Muslim people and it was never really mentioned even during RE lessons, I think there is a lot Islam can offer to other religions and vice versa, but people now are too afraid to mention it in case of offending people, well done

Sorry dude. Just cos you point out a verse or two that says one thing doesn't mean there aren't verses that say the opposite. Just like in the Bible. I admit I have not read the Quran. But if it is the same god as the god of the Christians and Jews then I already know enough about him.

Interestingly put, though as I understand it (from my very limited knowledge of Islam) there are other passages that could not be as accepting and can actually contradict what you quoted.

Also, there are those who have more extremist views and other interpretations of the Qu'ran. They use those views to justify blowing people up and other violence.

That is the face of Islam that is most prevelant to the world.

Yes, but for example there are other verses such as:

Al ma'eeda (The Dinner Table) [5.51] O you who believe! do not take the Jews and the Christians for friends; they are friends of each other; and whoever amongst you takes them for a friend, then surely he is one of them; surely Allah does not guide the unjust people.

I believe that religion ( or any law ) is as good as its interpretation.

you're defending your faith, and i can admire that. but don't think for one second that you will get away without criticism.

i challenge anyone at all in the world to honestly say that they have never had their opinions scritinized. but that is the beauty of it. we all have our right to aire our opinions, we just don't have a right to be heard.

i know, everyone knows absolutely everything right? truth is we all have something positive to add in one aspect or another, that is why diversity is a beautiful thing. different realms of perspectives shed light on new avenues.

if you want to survive reality, better stop crying over spilled milk, or you will miss opportunity when it spits at your feet...

God Bless You my Brother, I am a muslim too. Just coz terrorists in iraq kill innocent people in the name of islam doesn't mean islam encourages it. Islam is a religion of peace. All these terrorists in Iraq are not doing what islam orders us to do.

I know very little about Islam. But I can tell you that I don't agree with how muslim women are treated. I have a big problem with that.

Ironically the bible says the same thing, and I don't buy it for a minute, you simply can not love in one hand, and kill with the other, it is such a load of crap that it's simply unbelievable.

Good verses. But they don't compare with, "Do unto others as you would have done to you." Or, "Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you."
Just my opinion.
