I am doing a study of how people look at morality. I would like specific answers of people opinions of wrong/sins that are not really a big deal.

I've seen the scripture that says its a sin in the old testament. But most christians don't follow the ways of the OT anymore. So if homosexuality isn't a sin in the NT, then why are christians still against it?

The word beget or begotten is an event and act. Chrsitians believe that Jesus is god and begotten son. This word gives an clear indication that Jesus came into existense as an event and act of begetting. Which also means that before this event Jesus was non-existent. Can someone be begotten as well as eternal? I know you would be having lots of expanation of word begotten, but again that expanation would be against the direct meaning of begotten. Begotten is a clear english word which has a clear meaning. If some dictionary add another meaning to begotten to accomodate christianity; doesn't really legitimise using word begotten.
Clear and honest answer would be appreciated.

Do u really think that Islam, which is; despite all the attcks, the fastest growing religion on earth, is all about killing and terrorism, do u really believe that, or it is just easier to believe than to search?!

The Magi (the 3 men from the east that visited Jesus at birth) practised sun worship. Is the stroy of the Magi in the bible simply a story of sun worship and not a literal real event?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magi
Also the early christian had a practise of eating the bread and drinking the wine early enough in the morning to greet the sun.
Or are some of the books in the bible attempts to hijack earlier christianity?

On Tuesday my grandpa was sent to the hospital b/c we thought he had a heart attack. It turns out he had a stroke. He has lost some of his vision and there is bleeding in his brain.
Last night my mom's car got hit by a speeding person. She wasnt hurt but the car is slightly damaged.
My bf has been ignoring me or something happened to him, he hasn't contacted me since Saturday. I am supposed to see him tonight. My friend said he wasn't at drama rehearsals on Mon. or last Friday.
I have a test I need to go study for as soon as I type this. It is a hard science test and I have been procrastinating on it. Now I am in trouble b/c I haven't studied at all for it.
I need serious prayer help right now! Will some people please pray for me and the things above??

The first gospel was written(Matthew) some 50 years(some say 200 yrs) after Jesus had gone. Most of the writings are based on hearsay by descendants of the Jews who live during Jesus' times.
If the people during those times rejected Jesus, isn't it possible that most of it was all distorted?

Please don't give me the reason that the writings were inspired. That is a cheap cop out.

How do modern day end time revelation prophets appear to you? What sort of characteristics do most of them have in common? I am doing research and would appreciate your objective, fair feedback.

The one thing we would all agree on is that morality is about how individuals behave towards other individuals, and the consequences of that behaviour for each person. Christianity (as an example) tells us that only one god exists, and that he existed alone for all eternity until he decided that he needed to make some humans to love and worship him. Now, how would such an entity ever come up with ideas about how to interact with other individuals, if there is only one of him? How could he be the origin of moral views about relationships if he never had a relationship? How could he be the origin of rules about theft if he never lived in a society, or about how to interact with parents if he never had any? If you try to ascribe the origin of morality to a creator god then you end up at a loss to explain where it came from in the first place. The idea is clearly nonsense.

On the other hand, morality *does* make perfect sense if it is an evolutionary survival strategy - Part of the phenotype which has made us such an enormously successful social species. The 'function', then, of morality (if you can call it that) is simply to enhance the propogation of the genes which cause this kind of behaviour, which it has done extremely well. That's no different to observing that the 'function' of wings is to facilitate flight and that it has contributed to the evolutionary success of birds and beetles and other flying creatures.

So, as far as I can tell, morality makes sense in an atheist worldview but no sense at all in religion.

I was just wondering if you look back on life as a roll of good times, or whether you see all of the missed opportunities and mistakes you made? How have you interpreted nostalgia?

Thanks!

who wrote End of Faith and Letter to a Christian Nation?
"People of faith often claim that the crimes of Hitler, Stalin, Mao and Pol Pot were the inevitable product of unbelief. The problem with fascism and communism, however, is not that they are too critical of religion; the problem is that they are too much like religions. Such regimes are dogmatic to the core and generally give rise to personality cults that are indistinguishable from cults of religious hero worship. Auschwitz, the gulag and the killing fields were not examples of what happens when human beings reject religious dogma; they are examples of political, racial and nationalistic dogma run amok. There is no society in human history that ever suffered because its people became too reasonable."
