first of all, true prophets are rare.....there are always many false ones...people looking for prominence and attention.

second- there are some who call themselves porphets, but they are actually prophetic analyists....they analyze prophesy from the bible and see how modern events fit into the prophesy. this is similar to forecasting the weather.... it is just analysis....

false - usually generalize so that anything they say sounds about right, copy from the bible and pretend it is their revelation, when they try to be specific, which they usually avoid, they are not accurate, they promote themselves, and take money for their efforts. prophesy is a gift to share, it is not for profit. sometimes they guess right, but they cannot be 100 % accurate, many times they quote the bible to legitimize what they say... all artificial

true - 100% accurate. humble. does not seek attention or money. many times mistreated by others because what they have to say is not accepted. they can give specific words or events to come, when there is no earthly way they could know this ahead of time. they can also see into the present about events and information they could not , on their own, know about..and speak to that situation.... the words spoken flow out and cannot be pre-planned... spontaneous....

example..
.a false prophet would say.... "god loves you and will help you with your problems"
a true prophet would say..."god is showing me that you have some physical problems... you have an appointment with the doctor tomorrow and the doctor will tell you this....but do not be dismayed... for God is already at work and he will heal you of this sickness.. just have faith... it will take a few weeks to teach you paitence, but you will be healed without surgery."

most modern day prophets are either analyists or false....however, there are a few rare true ones around, but you will not hear much about them...

this is a limited space...let me know if you want to know more.

there are no modern day prophets - if someone tells you they are a prophet from God and say something that is not already in scripture they are a fake - the Bible tells us all prophesies have stopped
there are plenty of people who think they can tell when the end of times will come but they are not saying something new
I don't buy these guys either - scripture tells us God will not reveal to us when the end is coming - this is a common theme through Old and New Testament - did He change His mind and tell these "prophets" doubt it - what I do believe from them is whatever dates they come up with - I am sure that will NOT be when it happens

Well REAL prophets are going to have truth and sincerity to their prophecy. It's difficult to distinguish sometimes between the people playing mind games for selfish or vane reasons, real prophets and people who are just plain crazy. Prophets aren't perfect people. They just have a purpose on earth more like lightning bolts than passing clouds on a windy day. General characteristics are that they speak truths that are accessable regardless of individual religions or denominations. They speak to a particular generation or era, usually one that's about to change dramatically. And they are often part of peaceful revolutions. These people may resemble some kind of cult leader in life, or even dangerous pseudo political figures. But they never advocate, imply, or insinuate violence or anger over, or in place of better solutions to life's challenges. And eventually the truth of their lives and testament to prophecy is revealed to be both profoundly supernatural and healing to the human spirit.

Most of them appears with the wave of prosperity and success. They bring good news to individuals knowing that once the individuals are prophesied to they will give to their lives. But true prophets today are very observent and attentive especially where there are a lot of people. They can pick anybody without first knowing the background of that particular person.

A Biblically defined prophet is someone who NEVER gives a false prophecy and attributes his revelation to God and not himself.

This basically eliminates every so called prophet that I have heard of in modern times.

Modern day prophets are highly adept at assessing the weakness in peoples character and capitalizing upon it. They are intelligent, shrewd and manipulative people who are at their best when preying on victims.
