Good luck. What did I give up? Since you asked, I will be honest with you. I gave up being a Catholic. This probably sounds hateful to you, but I don't mean it that way at all. I quit because of all the rules that the Church imposed on me. Not so much the sacrifices, but the way they take over my life. I don't like having to go to church in the parish closest to my house. I don't like them sending me a tithing bill. I don't like what they do with the money they get. That's my decision. Not that I gave up being a spiritual being. That's another dance altogether. I really really don't believe the things they want you to stand up and swear to in church every Sunday. And I really don't agree with the Catholic notion that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. He is certainly one wonderful way, but not the only way. I believe that Jesus has been exploited by political and religious leaders to further their own positions. The Pope lives in a palace, in his own city, surrounded by riches, yet hungry people die every day. Jesus fed the hungry, and as far as I know, he never owned property. Catholics and Christians in general, like other organized religions, insist its their way ot the highway, and they can be so ugly about it. Very defensive. I will not be a part of any of that. My church is my garden, my home and my body. Blessed be.

Well, you probably know the Seven Deadly Sins (Pride, Greed, Wrath, Envy, Gluttony, Lust, Sloth). I admit that I commit the sins of: pride, wrath, gluttony, sloth. I am trying to give up these sins and not commit them during Lent. However, the devil is cunning. He knows my weaknesses and will tempt me and every other person who tries to give up sin for Lent.

Good Luck to everyone!

I have not given up anything. I am not Catholic so it is not required. However, it is a time of drawing closer to Christ for me. It is a precious time and anything that deepens our walk with the Lord is of value. Many blessing to you for you sacrifice during Lent. With God's help you will do it, child of God.
