The first gospel was written(Matthew) some 50 years(some say 200 yrs) after Jesus had gone. Most of the writings are based on hearsay by descendants of the Jews who live during Jesus' times.
If the people during those times rejected Jesus, isn't it possible that most of it was all distorted?

Please don't give me the reason that the writings were inspired. That is a cheap cop out.

Tu Nga: Initially Muhammad was rejected by his tribes, the Quraish, but all the arabs later accepted Islam during The Prophet's lifetime. Jesus did not manage to convince his people even after he is gone.

The 50 years is about right, but 200 is stretching it a bit lol. But the books by Matthew, Mark, John and Paul are not hearsay, they were written by the disciples (well, Paul never knew Jesus, I meant that he wrote those himself)

Here's the problem that no one can get around ... everything Jesus said was absolute truth, and everything He did was done with absolute love. People will point to the Bible and say it's full of errors, but not one person can point at the words written in red and say "He lied" or "He was mistaken".

The people of that day rejected Jesus because His thinking was so radically different from the Jewish way. He told people that not following the rules wasn't the important thing, God would love them anyway; following all the rules wouldn't get you into Heaven (this was a major shocker to the Pharisee) but having a good heart would. Then He offered Himself up as a sacrifice to show us that death is not the end, there is more. This was so incredibly different from what the Jews of that day knew.

But also, they did not believe in Jesus as the Son of God because He did not come for them, He even said so. When the Jews asked him "tell us plainly, are you the Christ?", part of Jesus answer was "you believe not, because you are not of My flock." You can find the whole exchange at John 10, about verse 24.

His people saw him as a rebel prophet, the vary fact that the writings were written many many years after the death of Jesus, simply tells me that the stories about his life were mostly fabricated and holds no credible facts, as a catholic I have questioned the bible contents for years now, and common sense, and logic tells me that it is simply a distorted, and exaggerated story that never really happened, I believe it has become the most destructive form of brain washing that mankind has ever had to deal with, and religion continues to lie rather than tell the truth, because it is simply a controlling subject that gains wealth and power, I also believe that if 1/3 of the bible was true he would have returned by now, and I know in my heart that is never going to happen.

judaism isn't scary.

it doesn't claim you'd get eternal punishment if you don't agree.

it doesn't claim to be the only one thats right.

it also, despite being "the chosen ones" does not claim to raise you above others or make you better.

its not flashy.

its not dramatic.

the jewish "system"... well, doesn't claim to have authority over the afterlife, or to resolve it. it simply trusts God with all that. it doesn't make a show of it. its between you and God. while this seems simple and honest, I think for most people its actually much harder, since its not reassurance, and "the other guy will get punished and I won't!" reinforcement::

I think it *really* simply does not occur to most people that maybe there was a GOOD REASON that the jews rejected him.

that MAYBE he simply didn't qualify, and that the church presented what was expected and all to make it look like he was it.

it doesn't seem to occur to them that if what they were taught it said, and that they were supposed to expect, was what the jews REALLY expected.. then he wouldn't have been rejected.

what *REALLY REALLY* makes me chuckle, is when you ask how they will be sure that when jesus comes back, it will really be him.
so many times they say "well it'll be obvious! we'll just know!"

... yet when judaism says that the coming of the messiah(the real one, not jesus) will be self evident and clear as day, without a doubt that the event has occured... well, its not valid THEN.

Your information is wrong. It is written around AD60-65, by an eyewitness no less!

In John 1:11 it says "He came to what was his own, but his own people did not receive him. But to all who have received him – those who believe in his name – he has given the right to become God’s children – children not born by human parents or by human desire or a husband’s decision, but by God."

So your information is wrong again. While there are people were rejected Jesus, there were also people who accepted Him. Nothing in the Bible ever hints that EVERYBODY would reject Jesus.

It is the same today. While there are at least 1.3 billion Muslims who rejected Jesus, as at year 2000 there are more than 2 billion Christians (defined as those who call themselves Christians) who accepted Him.

BTW, I didn't give you the reason that the writings were inspired, though they certainly were!

All the Prophets were rejected by their peoples: Christ by the Jews, Muhammad by the Arabs, Buddha by the Indians...People stood at the foot of the mountain cannot realize its highness. Great thoughts can be understood only by future generations far in time and space. Despite thousands of distortions by enemies and ignorant believers, the divine truth still shines for millennia as an irrefutable evidence.

I assume you are talking about the Jews. God said they would be defeated and scattered all over the earth. They would be persecuted and murdered for not obeying his commandments.
That has happened. He also said that they would start to come back to Israel near the end of times. That is happening today.

Christians accept Jesus for what he did for us. The Jews believe as the Muslims, that Jesus was only a Prophet. Even though he is the only one to have been given birth by a virgin. Only God could have caused this to happen. Therefore making him the son of God.

The Jews thought that Jesus would overthrow their Roman ruler become the king of Israel. Jesus did not come to establish a natural kingdom but a spiritual kingdom, the kingdom of God. The Jews rejected Jesus when He did not become their king as they expected.. Christians acknowledge Jesus as Lord and Savior as God intends Him to be and are ushered into the kingdom of God as sons of God. The Jews who rejected Jesus did not write the gospels. The gospels were written by His disciples and followers.

Sorry, is that any different from other religions or mythologies, the holy books of every religion are an art work of modified facts and fictitious myths, but we, humans, love these fictions, we always loved a good story around the camp fire, ever since we learned how to talk and make fires.

The Messiah YAHOSHUA is also rejected by Churchianity, (which is a heathen religion) The Almighty YHVH set up a system. He sent His “Son” YAHOSHUA to die for the sins of mankind so they would not have to. (They could choose to, but did not have to). Any person who chooses not to allow Yahoshua to take care of their sins, chooses to remain attached to their sins. They thus will wind up in the lake of fire which is YHVH’s method of cleaning this world, and eliminating sin and sinners. The Creator set aside the Seventh day for rest and worship. Yes that is the day usually called “Saturday”. We are not saved by obedience, we are saved by faith. However we are saved FOR obedience. As He said in John 14:15 (and in many other places) “If you love me, keep my commandments.

Churchianity is a pagan religion. The only thing that will change a person is the indwelling savior Yahoshua. Obviously that is rare in this sinful world.
