I am doing a study of how people look at morality. I would like specific answers of people opinions of wrong/sins that are not really a big deal.

In my opinion rape, murder, abuse, cruelty towards others whether human or animal, and theft count as the really big sins. Everything else is small potatoes.

I am not in the position to have an opinion on sin. Sin is what it is. Sin is doing things apart from God's will. Sin is sin, no matter what we feel would be a big deal or not...this is not our call on which sin is greater than another. There is not one sin that is greater than the other in God's eyes. However, we must face the consequences for our actions which differ in judgment according to the law of the land...laws necessary for our society to function at some measure of decency.

I believe, according to a classical Christian approach to morality, all sins are equal. Telling a white lie is equal in God's eyes to murdering someone.
Of course, this is pretty ridiculous. In my personal opinion, sins vary on how much they affect people. Telling a white lie will have little or no negative effect on a person, but murdering someone not only takes away a life, it devastates people close to that person.

I don't rate sins because I don't believe that God does. I think that all sins seperate us from the relationship with have with God; therefore, they are equal in his eyes. I try to regard them the same way. I am human though it's hard for me to look at a lie and a murder in the same light and think both are forgiven without God thinking twice about it. That is the power of grace and the amazing forgiving power of God. The way that humanity rates the sin doesn't bare at all on how God forgives it.

I see sin as sin. Whether it be big or small, a sin is a sin. No sin catagories. All sin is a big deal when not forgiven.Jesus is the way to that forgiveness. He died for all sin to be forgiven if only we ask. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life.It is not the sin we have to worry about, it is not asking for forgiveness for those sins that affect our lives. We have a Savior that suffered and died for those sins. A sin is a sin.

Little white lies to get you out of trouble. lol

I don't think of them as sins, I see it has natural human behavior, and learning from your mistakes once you see how much pain you've caused, and that is VERY hard for some people.

Getting saved should be taken as hoping you're getting your word to the divine, but mainly for self-reflection of why you want to be saved in the first place, why do you think you need saved, and once you come up with an answer, correct what you think you've done wrong.

We make too much of our sins, I think - almost a perverse pride in our sinfulness. Most of them are small, either of omission or commission. The most terrible are cruelty, hatred and intolerance, and what these lead to.

Once, in a saintly passion,
I cried with desperate grief,
"O Lord, my heart
is black with guile,
Of sinners I am chief!"
Then stooped my guardian angel
and whispered from behind,
"Vanity, my little man,
you're nothing of the kind."

There are no small sins or big sins.
There are only the effects of obedience and disobedience to the counsels of the One True God. Obedience is moral; disobedience is immoral. We use our divinely endowed rational sense, we are moral; we don't use it, we are immoral.

If you take a piece of white paper and put a black dot on it, then take another piece of white paper and color a big huge circle of black on it, both pieces of paper are colored with black and are no longer white.

Sin is sin, no matter how great or how small. It is the staining of your soul, whether a big stain or a little one, the stain is still there.

Larry,
When we break a command of GOD's to sin, HOW could that ever be considered minor? Sin is a transgression of GOD's LAW. I do not want to answer why I thought that breaking one of HIS LAWs was unimportant, Do You?? Think about it! Have a great day and please do not consider HIM as being so insignificant as that.
Thanks,
Eds
