John the Apostle, the supposed writer of the Gospel of John has one theme, the proof of the divinity of Christ. It starts of with the statement of the Word, then moves one to put more emphasis on the divine nature of God vs. the more human nature in the other three Gospels. John the Evangelist, given credit for Revelations, was to inspire hope in a time of great turmoil, due to the persecution of the early Christians by both the Jews and Romans. So depending on which John you wish to find out more about, read the Bible.
God bless you always.
