Pleasure is not the foundation of society, but virtue. Enjoyment is not our vocation here below, but labor and grief. God has created us expressly to produce by us a thing which He could not produce alone: that is, greatess in vileness, strength in infirmity, purity in flesh and blood, love in selfishness, good in evil, virtue in a heart which possessed each moment the liberty of being a convinced sinner. This is our vocation, our fate.

Jesus Christ conquered the world only because He knew [this fate]; and because, from His Cross, slave and God, he supremely fulfilled it. Salvation (as well as all glory and all joy) is found in following him.

This is why -- thanks be to God! -- pleasure and enjoyment shall never [be the foundation] of a society here below. Misfortune must be stronger, so that virtue may exist; there must be poor, so that alms shall be given; wounds, so that they may be bound up; tears, so that they may be accepted; disorders, so that men may aspire to order; ruins, so that pride may be humbled; ... bloodshed, so that there may be saints.

I mean things like "you are not to read the cards for yourself", "don't let other people touch them", "put them in a special bag/box" and which way to turn them and how to shuffle them and how to protect yourself and all that jazz... I'm just interested in how others work with their cards.

I don't mind people having an opinion on tarot cards just please, if you want to say something like "Tarot is the devil!" or similar, please refrain. I believe you shouldn't force your religion on others. They just may not be ready yet.

I have heard that some denominations believe that humans before the flood were so morally deprived that they were having sex with animals and having off spring.
This is why God destroyed the earth wih a flood.

I have also heard another theory that man was into genetic enineering. We all know that back then the human brain was far more developed and well capable of doing far greater things than we could dream of now.

Any thoughts on either comment?

I live a good life, I help people, I love my personal god, (not the Christian one), I love animals and I'm compassionate & Forgiving- in what way am I a sinner?


I'm not saying I'm ''better'' than anyone though. I 'm not saying I'm like Jesus. But how can I be a sinner??? what have I done???

Muslims keep harping about how good an islamic environment is etc etc. Yet when they have established an islamic state, they start leaving it for infidel countries why?

Why doesn't the muslims from iran, pakistan, iraq, afganistan etc all stay in their country and stop coming here to America or Europe?

The fact is they cannot assimilate into secular lands/societies, so why do they even come here? If they come here as refugees from their islamic religion, then shouldn't they denounce the religion that oppresses them?

The irony is this. They fervently want islam, yet it is islam that terrorises them and causes them to leave. Now, they bring this nonsense to our countries. Yet islamic countries are often amongst the most backward and crime infested countries in the world today.

What do you think the world should do with Islam?

The Bible's decree of male supremacy has kept woman inferior to men for centuries. For the religious, it comes as a sad fact that a human must have a penis to receive any respect or power within the Church.

All woman should realize that such phrases in the Bible has justified for many Christian men, not only their supremacy but a reason to sexually abuse women.

I am sick a lot. I don't feel like doing my homework very often. When I do feel well enough to do it, I grab on to that opportunity, no matter when it happens to be. And it turns out it's sometimes at a very inconvenient time, like at 4 o'clock in the morning! My mom says I should just go to bed. But I don't know if I'll feel like studying later. I don't know when I will feel well again. So I have to take the opportunities as they come.

Why, because it would be nice to have faith in something like Jesus.

I just don't believe it. I've read a good portion of the Bible, and through here and the internet I get Christianity better than most Christians seem to.

It's just not for me. I tried with an open mind. I tried it for selfish reasons. I tried it because I wanted to. Never, nothing, almost sometimes, but never.

Does this mean it's not true? I'd have to say yes, but I'd also say I'll never win the lottery. And I'd like to win the lottery.

The problem is, is that humanity has been trying to disprove Christianity for years, so they've come up with an answer for every question long before Yahoo! or the internet.

Though some of it is circular reasoning.....you know.."How do you know the Bible is the true word of God?" "Cause it says so"

Stuff like that.

But if I had a choice, I'd rather be who I am, and I do have a choice so I am me.

Eugenics is a pseudo science that followed Darwin’s theory of survival of the fittest.
They argue that in order for men to survive only a selected few should procreate. Because if we let weak procreate they will weaken the entire race. Basically under Eugenics everyone is created different.

But Eugenics was partially homegrown right here USA!!!

What concerns me is that Eugenics is still being followed right here in the USA.
Modern Psychiatry alleges with out any evidence that the source of mental illness is genetical.

Just as German Psychiatrists told Nazi Germany that it was a scientific fact that he German race was a superior race; Americans are being told that the source of depression is a chemical imbalance with out any scientific proof. This theory is being challenge by many in the scientific community as being pseudo-science.
