Over the years, I've met many leading scientists and other intellectuals who not only believed in God, but told me they had concluded it was far more logical to believe in God than to disbelieve in Him.
Why did they come to this conclusion? One reason, I discovered, was because they had an open mind, and were willing to examine the evidence for God and weigh it carefully and honestly.
This is to the atheists. Can you say that about yourself—or is your mind closed, because you aren't willing to change it? Only you can answer this, of course—but I challenge you to be honest with yourself, and be open to the possibility that God does exist.
But many of those men and women came to believe in God for another reason: They examined the life and teachings of Jesus Christ, and came to put their faith and trust in Him. You see, Jesus made the most startling claim imaginable: He claimed to be God in human flesh. He boldly declared, "Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father" (John 14:9).
Was His claim true? Yes—and the reason is because Jesus did something no one else had ever done, or ever will do: He died and three days later came back to life. Do you want to know what God is like? Look at Jesus Christ—and when you do, you won't only discover that God exists, but that He loves you and wants you to be part of His family forever.

I am an atheist and I don't put faith in anything. Faith is belief without evidence. Which is why it is such an important part of religion as there just is no evidence that the fairy stories that religions peddle are true.
I never met an atheist who claimed to know everything. Being an atheist just means you have stepped back from all of the religious dogma surrounding their childhood and actually looked at the fact and made a decision for themselves rather than relying on faith to keep them believing in something that just isn't true.
Oh and by the way Christians - quoting the bible does not support your arguments with aethiests, because it is the atheists who have already worked out that the bible is just a story book, you might as well quote from Alice in wonderland.

Any decent scientist will tell you that not everything can be proven by science and it is certainly impossible to know everything. Of course scientists don't pretend to know everything, and they don't make blind leaps that defy all reason and logic based on some ancient book with no evidence to back it up and which contradicts both history and itself...
However science gives us empirical evidence, testable, observable, and repeatable theories. It is responsible for all of our understanding of the modern world and universe (according to religion the world is flat, the sun revolves around the earth, sickness is caused by demons and witches, a plague is god's wrath, women are inferior, etc.) and none of our modern marvels would be possible unless science were accurate the vast majority of the time.
There is no way to adequately disprove a supreme being, just as it's impossible to disprove the Flying Spaghetti Monster or the Celestial Teapot. That doesn't mean one exists.

Who says Atheists tell people not to believe in God or go to Church ? And they put their faith in scientists ? My partner is a very strong church goer and believes in everything about God and I dont try to make them believe anything else. Ok we joke sometimes about religeon and beliefs but we dont try to disuade each other. I was forced to go to Church every sunday by my parents and that made me think I dont want religeon. I could read the bible backwards and won many prizes for winning quizzes about it but I dont want it myself. You enjoy what you believe and I will enjoy what I believe, I would never try to say anything about you and your religeon. I believe in a power greater than us but it is not God as you see it, I believe that all living things have a right on this earth including plants etc.. I have been told that is the faith of Bhuddism , if so that is what I am because it isnt a religeon as such. Presume I am a lot older than you so when I go I will come back and let you know if there is heaven and what god looks like.

C'mon man, stop being so defensive. Atheists, such as myself, do NOT know everything, just like you there is monumental amounts of knowledge out there that we do not know, do not understand.
Beside that, science is not a spirituality or religion, to confuse it as such is not helpful to you, science or religion. Get this clear: science cannot explain the spiritual, and religion does not stand up to scientific investigation as it is based on faith, not evidence.

If it works for you...Great! But many of us have made informed, educated decisions and don't appreciate having religion constantly pushed on us.
I don't know about other atheists, but I tend to study many different subjects, including multiple religions, sciences, histories, and Nature.
I have studied religion for close to 40 years. Part of these studies included lay-ministry school, total Bible study (including history, Greek and Hebrew dictionary's and concordances), Pentecostal training and study, Jehovah's Witness study, Lutheran and Methodist study, and Wiccan studies (including Celtic, Egyptian, Greek, and Native American mythologies).
I tackle other subjects with just as much gusto.
Through all of my studying, I have kept an open mind. But, I have found that so many who profess to be Christian don't even take the time to study the book they profess to follow to the letter.
Personally, I have made an educated decision to not believe in myth and books, but I do use some of it to help me and guide me in my life's journey. I can quote the Bible with the best of them and actually KNOW what it means. I can also quote scientists as to the FACTS that can be proven.
Perhaps others are happy putting their "faith" in things and myths that cannot be proven with facts. But, I choose not to. I would rather have hard facts.
Does this mean I am totally without imagination? No! I see life and have faith in, in Nature, rather than a concept.

it relatively is debatable no count number if it relatively is greater powerful to be the sufferer of a malicious act than an twist of fate. many human beings sense greater powerful i think of if their misfortune has a purpose. God or the devil or another supernatural means ******* with them is greater comfortable than the reality, through fact it makes them sense like they're significant sufficient to count number and there remains some administration. the thought they may be destroyed completely via an uncaring, unaware universe for no reason in any respect would be terrifying. even though that's not significant in case you discover a devil actively plotting against much less frightening than an unfathomable universe destroying you considering you're relatively purely airborne dirt and dirt. A fantasy being comforting does not make it actual.

Not all atheists are atheists because of the lack of evidence of God. A lot of atheists don't believe because of personal experience with religion. I, for example, am an atheist because I was a christian for an entire year, and nothing good ever came out of it. All I ever felt was guilt. I never felt loved, or protected, or understood. I had pastors filling my head with immoral and ridiculous nonsense that only made me feel worse about being a christian. God hasn't done anything in my life or my family and friends lives to prove that he exists.
I refuse to believe in a God that makes me feel guilty and depressed.
Oh yeah, and the other half of atheists put their faith in scientists because scientists actually have EVIDENCE. Do you know what that is? All christians have is a little book that's been mistranslated hundreds of times over the centuries. Atheists don't claim to know everything. We just claim that YOU don't.
Does that answer your question?

This is a straw man argument. It's very badly constructed though. You are claiming atheists put their faith in science. No... The only statement you can make about atheists as a group is that they don't believe in gods. Their views on science vary from person to person.
I can state as a fact that the Tooth Fairy isn't real. I can't prove it, but as there is zero evidence of its existence, I can rest comfortably with my certainty. The same goes for gods.

It is very interesting to see how many atheists visit the Religion & Spirituality site. I wonder why they do? At least it makes for a good discussion and I think it's important for people with different opinions to consider the views of others, don't you? Perhaps if we accorded atheists a bit more respect and consideration there would be less hostility between us? Let's keep this door of communication open.
