It is called a sin because of the potential consequences.
Some purists would say there would be no abortions but for unlawful, irresponsible sex.
There would be no intoxication if people would practice moderation.
There would be no financial ruin for gamsters if only they'd know what the limit is.
So your question should be phrased as: Why cannot we commit all manner of sin responsibly?

If, by 'sexual preference' you mean that you prefer oral sex to vaginal sex, then yeah, there is a lot of prejudice in the 3 monotheistic religions against anything that isn't vaginal intercourse.
If you mean 'sexual orientation' by 'sexual preference' then yeah, ditto there. But please, use the term 'sexual orientation' rather than 'sexual preference.' The latter seems to imply that there is a choice in the matter. The choice lesbian/gay people have is how to act on desires for affection and romance, not the sex to whom they are naturally drawn.
And, it seems that the 'upper classes' have always been able to get away with a TON more stuff than the 'lower classes.' Some of this can be seen how wealthy or landed people were able to buy favors from the church, in the form of indulgences, or giving land, property or funding to a particular parish. "You're giving us 3 acres for our monastery? Well then, your sins are forgiven!"
Funny, too, that the 'upper classes' of the Fundie Nutjobs (Ted Haggard, Jimmy Swaggart, Jim Bakker, etc) have had very mighty falls from grace.

First let me tell you that God is in a good mood. He is not a child abuser. So smile. Give your life to Him, and he will bless you.
I use to think that also when I was a slave to the world. But I found that sin is like candy, it tastes good, but get too much and it will hurt you. And even though you know it is hurting you, you still indulge in a bit more. Retarded, isn't it?
Alcohol is a sin only because we abuse alcohol. Wine in the Bible days was only 1/16 the strenth of what it is today. So we perverted it by making it at least 16x stronger.
Sex is God's creation and it was meant to be beautiful and fun! But again we perverted Gods creation and started ****, gay sex, and fornication. Think of God's perfect will. If you had only one partner, he or she could be the worst ever in bed, but you would have nothing to compare it to. So it will always be the best.
The earth. Now I am not a tree hugger, but we do a lot of damage to God's beautiful earth. So I think, even as a conservative evangelical religious right fanatic, that we should be good stewards of the earth.
I can go on, but I think you have the point.

because results of these activities says that these pleasures have the limit after that you will be full of pain and miseries and the God can not change the law of nature , because by changing laws nature can not run . so these activities are treated as sin means the warning that you are going to give birth to pain and miseries in life and finally death and again you will be in cycle . the true knowledge says that more pleasure lies in spiritual activities if you have developed interests in those activities but who does it who makes such a huge efforts and also we do not have faith in spirituality that there can be pleasure in that form. the reality is that the intensity of pleasure is heighest in the activities said in Geeta ie either niskam karam, devotion in the God or experiencing the God . kam wine are lower form of pleasure it is true. and also after death you will cotinue lives and lives . but if you want the heigher form of pleasure then you have to go for the activities said in Geeta. the most important thing is that the God has given free will to us . choice is yours . the soul always wants heigher forms of pleasure , want to be pure and pure to attain the strength and want to be close to the God that is why it warns you and you feel guilty.
choice is yours i think you got the answer

Sex is to occur between a married man and woman. Drinking alcohol is fine as long as you dont become a drunkard. My sins have been washed away by the blood of Christ. Committing sin is not enjoyable

Great question, and I'm sure we all wonder that! In order to answer this question, it is important to understand the definition of sin. Psalm 51:5 says, "Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me." But what is sin?
Biblical scripture says that sin is a universal human nature, found in everyone. It's ethical character is defined as rebellion against God's authority, due to human pride, as seen in Adam's first sin. Sin is what happens in the flesh, or is also heard of as a "sinful nature." We all have it. "Original sin" is a phrase actually coined by Augustine, not the Bible, but it still makes sense.
Let's get down to it .... you reap what you sow, according to Galations 6:7-8. That is a promise from God Himself. Doesn't it make sense that God would command that we refrain from sin, which brings us FURTHER AWAY from Him? Christianity is about submission to Him, not about taking control of your own life, because as soon as you do, you mess it up.
There is only one man who never messed up and that was Jesus. He fortunately has paid the ultimate price for us.
"For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord" Romans 6:23
My favorite sin is probably gossip, although I feel bad afterward, surprise surprise, so I have been trying to stop!!

I belong to an exceptionally little-properly-known faith this is predicated in India. It incredibly does not have the comparable concept of "sin" that Christianity does. incredibly, the theory is one in all "karma." incredibly lots each and everything is karma. It in certainty is the "reason and result" regulation. It does not choose whether something is solid or undesirable, it in basic terms has an result. for example, in case you prefer to eat candy issues, then you might accomplish that - however the effect would be getting rotten teeth and gaining weight. Given this actual philosopy, we attempt to end appearing karma, the two solid or undesirable. this implies to end having needs of ANY sort. Sexual desire is barely one, and it is not proper whether it is heterosexual desire or gay desire. We in basic terms attempt to have not got any desire. yet of direction, we additionally comprehend that that's amazingly confusing and no you could fly a 747 by using fact they desire to or maybe after a pair of classes. the two studying to fly a 747 and scuffling with all desire will take an prolonged time, so meanwhile, in basic terms save attempting, yet do no longer beat your self up over no longer being there yet. With this kind of philosophy, i'm waiting to completely settle for myself as an exceptionally non secular gay individual.

Not all religions view it that way.
""Let My worship be in the heart that rejoices, for behold, all acts of love and pleasure are My rituals." -- from The Charge of the Goddess
In Wicca we generally view pleasure as a valuable, and often sacred, part of the experience of being alive, provided that it is pursued with harm to none.
And my favorite sin would have to be chocolate. Lots and lots of chocolate.

God loves us. We are his beloved creation and he has given some rules to us so that we do not destroy ourselves. All sin has a final outcome that is destuction. Alcohol destroys. Unrestrained sexual activity destroys (as fun as it may be). Stealing destroys. Lying destroys. Killing destroys. Hatred destroys. Gay sex male or female, destroys. Sin destroys. God is looking out for us. There won't be any tears in Heaven, no pain, no heartache, no hate, no sin.

Because christianity has taught the "flock" that to take pleasure is bad. They wanted to control society. To exert control that means no rebellion, no rebellion means power for them. Power to control. Its all about control.
My favourite sin = sex with strangers (condoms used always) nothing better than a big night out and a big morning in. lol. Whips and handcuffs make the night fun.
