Atheists have no faith, we are free from delusion. An Atheist is much more interested in facts and best case scenarios. Because of that, we are excited at new discoveries in science and therefore our opinions will change on certain things whenever science comes up with a more convincing hypothesis. Religion teaches us to be content with not understanding.

No, it is false. It takes absolutely no faith to be an atheist. It takes no faith to NOT believe in god(s). Whereas it takes great faith to believe in god(s). Faith is the will to believe without evidence. I find atheists to like to see the evidence before believing. Hence, most atheists I know have no faith.

It requires a great deal of faith to be an atheist, just as it does to be a theist, since neither position can be conclusively proved.

No. Faith is by definition belief without evidence. Atheists base their belief on evidence, and their non-belief on the gargantuan non-evidence for god. As a 17C-18C essayist, Addison was a bit remote from the evidence that we have today, so perhaps it seemed right to him at the time. But it's not now.

No.

This guy died in 1719! A more contemporary quote might be more relevant:

"Faith is the great cop-out, the great excuse to evade the need to think and evaluate evidence. Faith is belief in spite of, even perhaps because of, the lack of evidence."
Richard Dawkins

no. It requires no faith whatsoever to be an atheist. It only requires a respect for logic and evidence. Believers have faith that God(s) exist. Atheists do not have faith in the non existence of Gods, we just accept the fact that there is no evidence for the existence of God(s).

Being an atheist doesnt take any amount of faith, only a great amount of denial.

Atheists dont have faith, they lack it.

Yes it is faith that there is no God vs. faith that He is. There is no physical proof of either. Spiritual proof is another story.
