I am not sure what you mean.... but it is human nature - sadly - to reject light and love darkness.
but people love to see miracles and love to eat the mutiplied bread and fish.... but to deny oneselves, to take up your cross, to follow Jesus when it means sacrifice and self-denial... nothing about the real christian life appeals to the natural man.
most people love a party and hate a funeral and, frankly, Christianity is all about death - death to our selfish and proud natures.

I think I understand what you're saying. I know you don't find it funny... it's hard to explain the things one isn't sure of. Remember that Jesus was as much a man as the thief was, and people were frightened of him because he spoke of things they had never heard before. It was impossible for the people to comprehend him. Imagine if someone came forth today and said they were the son of God, when everyone else had always believed it tp be impossible? The same thing would probably happen. A thief was one thing, but someone who challenged their beliefs and the old tradition was far more intimidating and angered them because they could not understand. How can anyone know the son of God is in their midst when all they believed about God previously negates this possibility?
I'm not religious at all, but I can see where this can be confusing. I'm sorry some people weren't nicer to you. To the people who lived then, the name of Jesus didn't mean much because they thought his miracles were an act of craziness and an abomination to God. In this day and age we still often misconstrue the good when it goes beyond our reasoning. Every day compassionate and kind people are killed for their beliefs. However, there are so many who respect humanity and do whatever they can to help and heal those around them - and these are the ones that further society, a little bit at a time.

Amusing? The death of Christ was a plan long before it happened. Jesus knew exactly what He was going to endure and it was the way of salvation for all mankind. Barabbas was just one lucky guy that day. Jesus knew this. Its all done to the plan of God.
