If you don't believe in Jesus, you spend an eternity in excruciating pain and suffering. Isn't there something wrong here? Does this seem just? I have a problem with this. I just want to understand.

You can be the best person on the face of the earth and still go straight to hell if you willfully reject God's free gift of salvation through His Son Jesus Christ.

I'm a Christian, no doubt about it. But I don't believe that you have to be a Christian to go to heaven. If you think about it, Christianity is a very young faith. To think that Christians are the only ones that get into heaven means that all the prophets, Adam and Eve, and Abraham and Sarah are in hell right now. Kinda hypocritical, huh? The way I've learned it, all you have to do to get into heaven is live a good life, without guilt or regret. Instead of a holy writing that is 2000 years old and has been changed by emporers and "holy" men through the centuries, live your life by the Golden Rule. Yes, this does mean that atheists and agnostics and Wiccans can get into heaven. That's because truly good people get into heaven.

Believing in a higher self, to be at peace with oneself ,an inner joy is to be liberated from an eternity of excruciating pain and suffering, which is mankind and we have spent the last two thousand years arguing and fighting and killing each other over as to who has the right version of events, Me thinks the lesson that "whats his name" told us about was a little advanced for us.but at least we are much better at killing one another.God Help us poor souls

If you commit even one sin you are bad enough for hell. If you humble yourself and submit to Jesus as your Lord and Savior you'll be made a new creation and saved from hell. Which means your desire for sin will be much less even though you still will sin from time to time. You will also want to learn more about God so you'll read the Bible and pray which the Holy Spirit will help you do. You'll then want to find other Christians to fellowship with including some that have a solid walk with God that will help you grow in your faith. I hope this answer helps.

Its a matter of faith, not of good works.

Some of the most sinful people found a relationship with God through faith according to the bible. That is where a lot of non-believers misunderstand the gospel. I've heard people actually say they could never be good enough to be a Christian. Or the roof of the church would fall down if they went to church.
Well, suprise, suprise. All have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.
The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Here's one more;
Therefore if any man be in Christ they are a new creature. Old things are passed away behold all things become new.

If I commit a crime of murder, and get caught just because I say I'm sorry; have never killed any one else; will not kill again the judge will probably send me to prison.
Some one has to pay for my crime of murder.

Here is some spiritual understanding. If I break God's law of lying, killing, stealing, hating, committing adultry in my heart....again someone has to pay for my crime of breaking God's law.
I don't want to have to pay for it....dying in my sin, and going to hell forever.
However, God provided a way out of going to hell through His son Jesus.
Jesus helped the tax collector who cheated, the person commiting adultry, the prostitute, and many others.
He layed his life down, took on the world's sins, and paid the cost so we don't have to go to hell.
If any person will repent/ turn away from their sins, ask for forgiveness, and live for Him they'll make it to heaven.
I don't understand every thing, but this I do know.
Whoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

I've heard of people doubting God's exsistance but never Jesus'
There is documentation of the man Jesus exsisting, but it is very unlikely that he was anything like we're taught nowdays.
You don't go to hell for defying the Church, as much as they would like you to believe that, it's in the bible that Jesus himself wanted to tear down a church because it wasn't the house of God, the kingdom of God is in our hearts, so if you are true to what you know to be right in your heart then your spirt shall be accepted into the kingdom of heaven.
Hell is reserved for those who do what they know to be wrong and feel no remorse for it

All sins are equal in the eyes of God, apparently. Mahatma Gandhi went to Hell because he practiced Hinduism

Not fair, huh?

Gandhi also believed that at the core of every religion was truth and love and questioned hypocrisy, malpractices and dogma in all religions. Even though he practiced Hinduism he still thought that there were imperfections in it, and all religions. It is alright to question religion.

Maybe we could learn a little from him about questioning religious dogmas.

hey, the television companys say, we will be switching to HD format in the year 2---, you have to get an adapter or a new television. You say no. Finally the signals are switched to HD format, and you find yourself outside of the television heaven. Whose fault is that?

hey, God tells the people, we are going to start a new world, you have to build an ark, you say no. Finally it starts to rain to eliminate the old world, and you get caught without a paddle. Whose fault is it?

Hey, God says again, I'm going to start a new world, you have to see JC in order to get a ticket. You say no. Finally the new heavens and the new earth arrive, and you find only a very hot place for yourself. Whose fault is it?

Jesus said if you have done so little as to say "you fool" you are in danger of hell because you have sinned. The penalty for sin is DEATH because God hates it and has warned us a million times not to do it and sent prophet after prophet warning us. Finally though Jesus came and said that instead of dying in our sins and so we KNOW we could have everlasting life, to believe in him and do the things he said. (not just merely believe) Though that is a huge step.

I agree it is not just by human standards (because we love sin) but it is just by Gods standards and his matter the most!

Actually, to go to hell all you have to do is NOTHING.

All men are on their way to hell simply because all are sinners...

As it is written: "there is none righteous; no not one'.

The only way to prevent from going to hell is repent of sin and put your trust in what Christ did on the cross....that's what Scripture says...

Pretty easy ....tooo easy for some.....

In fact , if you do that you not only escape hell , you also get the free gift of eternal life.
