It is a famous quote, I know, but I have been reflecting upon it. All to frequently I have seen messages of goodwill on this site (and in the world at large) slandered by cynics and malefactors who seem to take great pleasure in their own aggression.

Why is the world like this? If equality and peace are far-flung, romantic dreams, can't people at least learn politeness and how to be more reasonable? It seems to me that the world is becoming increasingly full of too many mouths talking, and not enough ears listening.

Does anyone agree- or even understand what I'm trying to get at (my grammatical skills leave a lot to be desired, I know)

I copied this from a Christian's blog who left me a hate message on myspace because i'm atheist

"so im on this myspace shyt.. and nigaz tryin to get wit a girl.... but i am a virgin too scared to meet them. nigaz kill bitches these days and no niga will be the death of Vee! members spoke openly about how she worried about her son and him not being married yet. She also expressed her concern that if and when it does happen, how a 'wrench' it'd be. Then another male member turned round and said to me, "Yes, it's the same with you. When your daughter marries, it'll be the same way - they'll be difficulty with separation". I didn't even ask his opinion about my personal affairs, as we're there to discuss the bible, unless anyone discusses their problems. Now it's made me think about what he said and I feel quite perturbed by it. What's it got to do with him?

why do you believe in god??have you ever blame god when you don't get what you hoped, when you up set and when you very disappoint. because i do believe in god, very often i cry when i disappoint and i always say " oh my god " that alot people say when they can't believe in what is happened. and do you think whatever is happening in good or bad do you think that god designed???

If humankind put all the energy it uses to fight in to loving, think what we could accomplish!

Look at what people power can do- look at how it inspires! Have you ever seen the footage of the crowds dancing on the Berlin Wall? The sun shines on occassions like this, those moments so wonderful they exist for the betterment of the whole world, to be captured on film and in the hearts of those witnesses lucky enough to be present.

If we all put as much effort in to creating times like these as we do fighting, bickering, bullying and slandering one another, imagine what life would be like!

I see a world where machineguns exist only as museum exhibits, and all the old battlefields have grown out in to wonderful gardens were the children of the old soldiers play each day until the sun sets, the offspring of both sides of every conflict.

Maybe one day, if we are all willing, it might happen...and then there would be no need for heaven, because we'd have it right here.
