The central beliefs of Islam are:

1. Belief in the Unity of God
2. Belief in His Angels
3. Belief in His Prophets
4. Belief in His revealed Books
3. Belief in the Day of Judgement and the Hereafter

The five pillars of Islam are:

1. Profession of Faith
2. Prayer
3. Fasting
4. Charity
5. Final Pilgrimage or "Hajj"

All the pillars of Islam are focussed towards making one more concious of the above beliefs. From professing the faith to making the pilgrimage to Mecca, it is meant to signify a life of submission to Allah's Will.

The Central beliefs of Islam are the same of most other religions (Christianity included) - There is but one true God.

The 5 pillars are building on these habits & beliefs;
1. There is but one true God
2. Praying
3. Giving Zakat (Tithing)
4. Hajj (pilgrimage to Mecca)
5. Fasting during Ramadan
