I think the "mission" of the Son and the Holy Spirit is the mission of redemption. To redeem fallen man back to God and thus it is the same. The ministry of the Son and Holy Spirit are much different. I am not sure where you got this quote from, it is not a Biblical quote so it would need to be dealt with in the context in which it was said in order to comment much more.

OK. Explain part of an out of context sentence. Best guess from the little bit given....

What the Son (Jesus) did and what the Holy Spirit does are part of the same mission. They did not do different things. And each needs the work of the other for their missions to be complete.

Jesus' death on the cross would be pointless if there was no Holy Spirit to impart the benefits of the death to men.

The Spirit's mission of indwelling people would be pointless if there were no "saved" people for him to indwell.

So each of their missions depends on the mission of the other.

The son is to point the Way his mission was the Way and to point us to it. the Holy Spirit is God's Spirit on Earth

The mission of the Son was to provide a means of salvation.
While He was on this earth He dedicated Himself to helping others to understand things of God.

The mission of the Holy Spirit is to convict a person that they need salvation, and to convince him to trust in the Son.
Then it is the job of the Holy Spirit to assist the new believer in understanding things of God.
He becomes our paraclete who comforts us, and intercedes for us.

When we receive the Holy Spirit we also begin the process of receiving Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, and self-control.

Peace!
When Jesus went up to heaven he did not want us to be left like orphaned children so he sent us the Holy Spirit. Jesus said, "I will ask the Father, and he will give you another helper, who will stay with you forever" (John 14, 16).
So you are right, except that you have to include the role of the Father and the Son.

Maybe it's because the Holy Spirit couldn't bring you to salvation if Christ had not died for you on the cross. They both played their part in bringing you to the love of God. Christ on earth 2,000 years ago and the Holy Spirit on the earth now.

If you're referring to the trinity.....which I'm not sure.....there is God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. One God eternally existing in 3 distinct persons......never inferior to one another.
