Is it a certain doctrine (like the Trinity; Creation; the Incarnation; the Last Judgement; Hell)? Is is a bad experience with Christians or a church? Is it the lifestyle of a disciple of Christ (too many "must nots")?
... just trying to understand why some people loathe Christianity or Christians.

Is that 'good enough?'
I haven't been to church in a long time because I've felt out of place at a few of the churches I've been to.
There are a lot of people who are 'false saints' and I don't want to be around them.. I know I should check out a few local churches around here but if I read the Bible and I pray is that enough?

We figure the kids will probably call her 'Flab for short. We really want her to have a rough childhood, so she develops good character... the same way god give us trials to strengthen us.

I'm doing a research paper, so thank you for your time in answering.

As a Christian, do you believe that aliens really exist?

Does the bible mention anything about aliens (entities not from our planet)?

And if aliens DID land and visit earth, would this disprove the bible itself?

Thank you in advance for your honest answers!
This is a legitimate question, and I hope to hear your thoughts!

As a little test, I asked "How do I tell my atheist parents that I'm straight?". I received a number of answers that were offended by the implication that all atheists are gay. Of course I didn't mean that, but whatever.

Another question I saw on this forum was "How do I tell my Christian parents that I'm gay?" ... Nobody gets offended by the implication that all Christians are straight.

I am a straight atheist. I've never been offended if anybody assumes I'm gay. But I was literally shocked to see how many so called open-minded people can be offended by being assumed to have a sexual preference.

Of course, my question was a lame attempt of answering to the silliness on this planet that gay people still have to deal with in telling their Christian parents that they are in fact gay.

But my question is: If somebody assumes you are gay, and it offends you, are you really open-minded towards homosexuals?

The "idea" of Heaven and the afterlife comes from wanting to be immortal, exist forever. I have to admit, even I want to exist forever. Why do humans feel a desire to live forever?

Science explains many of the "hows" they just don't know the bottom "why". Not excepting the "ape-to-man" theory does not equate to ignoring all science.

Thanks to science I know that the sun is approx 93,000,000 mile from here. How and why it ignited in the first place along with the universe is a mystery to science but not to me.

Science-only people never truly investigate the possibility of the bible being the word of a far superior being commonly referred to as God. They say, for no apparent reason the universe exploded and set life into motion. Then man oozed out of the ocean, became an ape, and later a man. Just because.

I say that the universe was engineered by someone. Where did that someone originate from? Unlike the science-only person I don't have to theorize. I can easily say "I don't know". Hopefully, I will find out someday.

I thank science for the asthma meds I take and the inventions that make my life easier. I thank God for making the science possible.

Just like the song, softly and tenderly is calling. Calling oh sinner come home. I know I will get reported but it is my job to testify. God saved me and I am so happy. Just think about it. If you don't want it, that is your choice.

Is it because it's easy to find holes and contradictions in Protestantism since it is broken into over 33,000 sects?

For example, why don't I ever see an atheist quoting directly from the Catechism of the Catholic Church and asking a sincere question about a quote from that source?
