Unfortunately the Beatles were not around in biblical days for the issue of rock music to come up but I think the Rolling Stones might have been playing then but they don't seem to be mentioned in the Bible either. Seriously music has been a form of expression since biblical days and I think what would be considered sinful is all in the mind of each individual listener and how they interpret particular music. I think this is up to individual judgement though there are certainly some music that is purely negative and it's very obvious when you listen to something like that so just turn it off.

First off, remember there are several genres of music today that did not exist back during biblical times.

It is my opinion that any music that makes you feel as though it is sinful to listen to, don't listen to it.

Furthermore, I am sure you know the ten commandents, so it is further my opinion that any song whether it be from rap, metal, alternative, or country that goes against those basic rules by which Christians are supposed to live is more than likely not a good song to listen. I am not saying that you should only listen to Gospel or Christian music, I think it is something that only you can truly decide for yourself on whether it is wrong or not. If any song you listen to make you think that it could be sinful, change the song.

Matthew 15:11-Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man

Depends on weather you can listen to secular music and not let it affect you or not.

I'm a spirit filled christian and I listen to rap music. But I dont let the all the ideas in the music affect me,but I still enjoy the music

What come out of a man defiles him becuase it reveals what a person lets in their heart. Can you listen to secular music and not let a lot of the bad ideas enter your heart.I not,you probably shouldnt listen to it.If you can listen without leting bad ideas in your heart, then have fun and enjoy.

The Bible says, "Make a joyful noise unto the Lord." So any happy upbeat music is appropriate.

There is a verse that says "make a joyful noise unto the Lord," which christians use to justify their hatred of rock and roll. That's pretty much the only verse. I would know because I went to a christian school and I heard that one all the time. If they had another one to use they would have used it.

Eph 5:18-20 Music that is praising the lord and honoring him

As long as it's music that glorifies God, it's good!

Psalm 100:2
"Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful songs."

also:

John: 4:23-24
"Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth."

Sorry, no scripture on that. You will just have to decide this moral question on your own...or ask your priest to decide for you, although I doubt he will know about God's taste in music than you or I.
