Is it a certain doctrine (like the Trinity; Creation; the Incarnation; the Last Judgement; Hell)? Is is a bad experience with Christians or a church? Is it the lifestyle of a disciple of Christ (too many "must nots")?
... just trying to understand why some people loathe Christianity or Christians.

It is the preaching which is given at all times. The constant quotes which are disrespectful to me and my beliefs. The closed mindedness that they possess and don't allow others to express their opinions. The fact that in order to be in control of their lives, they have to first give their souls to Jesus. Please, I could be here all week.

I don't consider myself someone who "loathes" Christianity. Due to the circles I hang out in, I often find myself defending it, much to my own chagrin. The reason that I'm cautious, and the reason I loathe certain Christians, and the reason I'm pretty sure other people get bitter over it is actually applicable to most other religions. It's the fact that many Christians just cannot be happy just doing their own thing. They MUST impose their way of life upon everyone else.

I personally left Catholicism mostly due to some issues with Mary and the whole Papacy (there have only been two statements to which Papal infallibility applies, and I heartily disagree with both of them; they were also both about Mary). I don't think that Mary had to be born free of sin (the logic applied breaks down quickly when you consider that Mary's mother was fine enough), and therefore I don't think she had to be Assumed into heaven. After that, I kinda just went agnostic, but I'm happy enough with that. I don't need the kind of arrogance where first of all, many people don't even fathom that everyone isn't already a Christian, and when they do anyone who's not is assumed either stupid or evil. Or both.

Nothing about Christianity offends me. What does offend me, even more than an atheist casting aspersions on Christianity, is the fact that there are false preachers and evangelists (not all of them are) on television preaching a false doctrine that has absolutely nothing to do with the message of Christ and bilking the unsuspecting masses of their money. It is my opinion that those people, charlatans that they are, will suffer much more in hell than the unbeliever, because they know the true gospel and don't preach it. Furthermore, they are a big turnoff for people who might otherwise hear the true gospel and be saved. There is one thing about atheists that I respect; and that is the fact that they, themselves, are not taken in by these blasphemous thugs. I am a Christian and am saddened by these facts. I wish that all could hear and believe the gospel of a loving Jesus Christ. If only the unbeliever could hear the true message and not the foolishness and blasphemous folderol coming from the mouths of false prophets, maybe they would believe.

I don't like the concept of hell. A punishment that has no end is cruel and unusual -- torture, as far as I'm concerned. I also don't like the idea that a person only gets to heaven by believing in Christ, not by being a good person. This question has been repeated here millions of times, but why should a good atheist burn and a semi-good Christian who "confesses his sins" enjoy paradise? Christians make it sound like the ONLY thing God cares about is being worshipped and acknowledged. I can't imagine the all-powerful, all-knowing, awesome creator of the universe having that kind of attitude. It's silly, almost.

I can't think of anything else that "offends" me; the rest, like the creation story, I just don't think are true.

I am not offended by Christianity, just some Christians. Especially those who push their faith as the only way. Christianity's basic story is about a man who died for our sins. Of course this story predates Christianity. Jesus was just another chapter in this story. Research the religions of Osiris, Mithras and Dionysus. Each were born of a virgin, healed the sick, raised the dead, died and rose again 3 days later, were the savior of mankind and were known as the "Son of God". Many "pagan" celebrations were taken over by Christianity and changed to reflect this new religion. Christmas and Easter come to mind. So if your religion takes over doctrines and celebrations of other religions and then claim them as their own, why would you be surprised if other religions would be offended.

Christians abuse the Lord of the worlds by calling God one of a three. i.e trinity.. this is the biggest abuse of God...it is stupid and most ignorant and abusive

People of the book= jews & chrstians

O People of the Book!
Do not go to extremes in your religion: nor say of Allah anything but the truth.
Verily, Christ Jesus the son of Mary was no more than a messenger of Allah, and His Word which he bestowed upon Mary,
And a Spirit proceeding from Him:
so believe in Allah and his messengers.
Say not "Trinity": desist: it will be better for you:
For your Allah is One God:
Glory be to Him:
(Far Exalted is He) above having
a son. To Him belongs all
things in the heavens and the earth.
And enough is Allah as a Disposer of affairs.
(SURA NISAA) Holy Qur’ân 4:171

"Such (was) Jesus the son of Mary:
(it is) a statement of truth, about which
they (vainly) dispute.
"It is not befitting to (the majesty of) Allah
(God) that He should beget a son. Glory be to Him!
when He determines a matter, He only says to it,
'Be', and it is.
"Verily Allah is my Lord and your Lord:
Him therefore serve ye: this is a Way that is straight." (19:34-36)-Qur'an

I am Christian, and OTHER Christians have offended me by insisting that I will go to Hell if I do not get baptized in the "true church" (theirs, of course).

I also don't appreciate people using Christianity as a club to beat people into line. It's supposed to be about love and acceptance, not hate, fear, and coercion.

hope no one takes this as an insult but to honestly answer I must say the most offensive thing is the ignorance of the god awful people that use it as a comfortable cushion for their lack of responsibility as they excuse themselves saying god will take care of it or the other cop outs like it must be part of gods plan .This is as much aiding and abetting evil as it gets . And then to think they have the power to condemn those that make some sense is beyond the pale . why not let them allow their gods to fight it out instead of supporting the corrupt new and improved Holy wars .
first you have primitive man invent the superstitious mindset out of sheer ignorance then pagans then the new improve Hebrew then the new improved Christian and finally the new improved Muslim but all along as knowledge increases faith gets worse and even more inexcusable and ignorant thwarting the chances of an undeluded clear thinking world of progress
peace out

The fact that there are hundreds -- nay, thousands -- of sects (not legitimate churches) within Christianity. Each of them insists that their interpretation of Scripture is the right one. More and more churches are starting up every week -- such a scandal!!!!!!!!!!

Yet you mock Jesus and his glorious prayer to the Father where he prayed that they all "may be one" (Jn 17:22).

It was St. Paul who warned against factionalism -- "I belong tp Paul....I belong to Apollos....I belong to Cephas...." Except that today it is, "I belong to the Assembly of God....I belong to the Church of God....I belong to the Methodist...." On and on -- ad infinitum and ad nauseum!!!!! Paul further warned about those who follow those who would "tickle their ears with their message" (2 Tim 4:22)

Show me where in Scripture Jesus ever said that if you don't like the message go start your own church?

You are pre-trib, mid-trib, post-trib, pre-wrath. You can't even agree on timing. Shame on you! There is far too much work to be done in terms of caring for the sick, the widows, the orphans, they lowly and the poor to get caught up in anything else.

You may me sick with your lack of unity!!!

I think that it's the way that its followers have twisted and perverted the Bible's word to their own purposes. Using certain passages to sanctify slavery, torture and murder. Using other verses to hold down the poor ("blessed are the poor") so that others can continue to get rich by them. Using still other verses to perpetuate hatred, violence and hypocrisy. And most of all, using His death on the cross as a means to excuse their own bad behavior.

I don't like the Christians who are so judgemental and tell others how to live their lives. I also don't like the ones who act like they are better than everyone else because they are Christians. Christians are supposed to be humble. I should know. I'm a Christian.
