This is ABSOLUTELY true. That have assembled a ruthless legal team that will pounce on critics at the drop of a pin if they can find out who they are and how to wound them.

Consider one extreme example: Operation "Freak Out". A woman named Paulette Cooper had been looking into the cult of Scientology and they didn't like that. They didn't like that at all. Their response?

"To get P.C incarcerated in a mental institution or jail, or
at least to hit her so hard that she drops her attacks."

They planned to frame her. They wanted her to be imprisoned for "making bomb threats". This was an OFFICIAL operation sanctioned by the "church" in the late 70's. The original documents calling for this attack on Ms. Cooper were seized during a government raid.

They are a CULT! Stay away from them and anything about them. Don't read the book. Treat Scientology as a poison.

I guess you could go to Tom Cruise's website and e-mail him. I'm not sure I would trust a religion started by a science-fiction writer. L.Ron Hubbard wrote Battlefield Earth before he wrote Dianetics. The book (Battlefield Earth) was great, the movie sucked, and Dianetics was unintelligible. www.scientology.org

Who knows...but since Tom Cruise is part of it, I steer clear of scientology!

Just look at what it's done for Tom Cruise. Isn't that reason enough to stay away?

Absolutely. There are people who had the church put up flyers in their neighborhood after they left the church. I forget what the flyers said, but it was libel.

I read somewhere that when someone criticizes scientology, the response from scientologists is, "Do you rape babies?"

I'm like, WTF?

Scientology is one of the religions that even I think is wacky, although I do not hinder one's right to believe.
