The Anger-Eating Demon
An ancient Buddhist Story

Once there lived a demon that had a peculiar diet: he fed on the anger of other. And as his feeding ground was the human world, there was no lack of food for him. He found it quite easy to provoke a family quarrel, or national and racial hatred. Even to stir up a war was not very difficult for him. And whenever he succeeded in causing a war, he could properly gorge himself without much further effort; because once a war starts, hate multiplies by its own momentum and affects even normally friendly people. So the demon's food supply became so rich that he sometimes had to restrain himself from over-eating, being content with nibbling just a small piece of resentment found close-by.

But as it often happens with successful people, he became rather overbearing and one day when feeling bored he thought: "Shouldn't I try it with the gods?" On reflection he chose the Heaven of the Thirty-three Deities, ruled by S

While on the other hand they are selective of membership, discriminate against so called "sinners", and bash "non believers"? Isn't love supposed to be universal?

this question clearly exhibits the various things I mentioned above.

Right, so, my brother is about eight years younger than me. Tonight he graduated from elementary school. I ended going along, partly because my brother's an okay guy and partly because my parents dragged me. So I got there, and the first thing I saw was that there were all these lolis. And the thing about elementary school grad lolis is that they like to think they're grown up. So, of course, they were all dressed really slutty. That was probably the third reason I stayed. Awesome smooth backs and delicious flat chests.
So the entire night was like slutty lolis on parade. But then, near the end of the ceremony, this one loli, who was trying not to look slutty and so was wearing a dress that went down to her feet (but strapless, so she still failed at the not slutty look) goes up. She walked across the stage and got her diploma, and then she headed for the stairs down. Then, right as she got there, she stepped on the bottom of her skirt. I could tell right away it was going to go.

Actually, this a follow up to my earlier question: What has Atheism accomplished? Looking at their answers it appears that they also have certain beliefs. Atheists only need to come up with a common code and creed to qualify as a religion. If they form one will this improve inter-religious dialogue? Will it help if we knew their position on certain issues and concerns? Right now they don't even have a spokesman. What do you think of this idea?

Kids say the darndest things, an 11 year old asked me this and it got me thinking.

Why is it that when people witness the beauty, variety, and unity of the earth and the universe they say its mother nature or somthing, and then when there's a hurricane or tornado or tsnami its an "act of god"?

Is that purely an expression or truly what people think?

And if it is just an expression for a formidable force of nature, why can't the good forces of nature be called acts of God?

God created Marriage when he created Eve and gave her to Adam.
The Bible goes on and on about sex outside of marriage. Children born outside of marriage are meant to be ostracised
By some means God impregnated Mary, thus creating an illegitimate child, we know as Jesus Christ.
This is in contradiction with one of the central biblical themes.
In short Christians follow a religion founded by the bas-tard child of an illicit tryst between an alien and an innocent human woman

"One morning Allah's Messenger was silent with grief. Maymunah said: Allah's Messenger, I find a change in your mood today. Allah's Messenger said: Gabriel had promised me that he would meet me last night, but he did not meet me. By Allah, he never broke his promises; and Allah's Messenger spent the day in this sad (mood). Then it occurred to him that there had been a puppy under their cot. He gave an order and it was turned out. He then took some water in his hand and sprinkled it on the place. When it was evening Gabriel met him and he said to him: You promised me that you would meet me the previous night. He said: Yes, but we do not enter a house in which there is a dog or a picture. So the very next morning he commanded the dogs to be killed. He announced that the dog kept for the orchards should also be killed, but he spared the dog used for the protection of extensive fields (or big gardens)." -- Hadith - Muslim, Narrated Maymunah

I am a teacher of twenty years standing. Throughout my career I have become disillusioned with educational programs that do not promote the spiritual, social and academic needs of our children. I would like to start an education centre that includes a wide range of learning experiences that encompass the whole person. I would start with four year olds as I have a child moving into that age group and continue devloping year after year. My focus would be on teaching important literacy, numeracy and communication skills as well as developing a diverse and questioning mind about different cultures, religions, lifestyles, values and especially self esteem. I would appreciate feedback from other parents about the project.

This site is every bit as offensive as the Prophet Mohammad cartoons, and yet no one in Thailand has issued the Buddhist equivalent of a death fatwa or showed up on the street to protest. Is it because they are less religious (doubtful) or less crazy (probably)?:

i mean, i hope the majority of people here are sane adults, but the type of hatred i see in some of the questions posed, makes me wonder, about people in general, tolerance, freedom, and plain general respect towards each others accepted form of belief. this is a great forum to express views and discuss things, yet seems some people just want to encourage seperation amongst people, and why does it matter so much, to those who dont believe a certain way, so much that they need to fabricate lies, or even promote negativity, to get their point across. am i the only one who wishes some of these folks should just grow up , and accept peoples differences, move forward, and lead by example instead of just trying to push another idea(religion down) and thus elevate your own idea or lack thereof.... ?

Yes I know the difference well; as far as a christian does.
That is NOT my question.
I have an excellent working relationship with a collegue. I know she is Musilm and was just wondering what type she is. I don't care what she is just idle curiosity. She is the only Musilm I know, so don't know if this would be an acceptable question to ask. I do not wish to offend her.
