If you see a person starving on the street and because you have no money you go into a grocery shop and steal some food and give it to the starving person.... then you acted illegal but highly moral.

Immoral - when someone doesn't think it's right.
Illegal - It's against the law and you can be charged and arrested for.

Authority doesn't create morality, kinda true in a way...most people have their own opinions on what's immoral and what isn't. But, the authority does provide a "head start" i suppose on what people thing should an shouldn't be immoral.

Laws are created so a select few can cash in on the rest of the populace, while sustaining the facade that they are "maintaining order". They pick an activity that everyone , or nearly everyone, does on a regular basis and make it punishable by x number of years jail time or x amount of dollars. The people who make the laws are more immoral than any "Average Joe" on the street. Ex. Just because it's illegal to let your dog run around without a collar, and even though you can be fined for it, does not necessarily make it immoral.

Illegal means against the written laws of the land.

Immoral (may also be considered unethical) means without or lacking in morals or ethics. These are the codes of society. What we as a people deem important.

Example: It is not illegal to have an affair with a married man. But adultery is considered by society to be an immoral act..

Immoral means breaking God's law and illegal means breaking man's law. But the Bible says to obey the laws of man UNLESS they conflict with His law.

And as for Authority does not create morality... During WWII, the Nazi party was the "authority" but the were racist! And they killed millions! Was that moral or immoral? The answer is clear.

Sounds like you are working on a project? Good luck!

Illegal - prohibited by law (i.e. the law of man; the country in which you live)

Immoral - inconsistent with accepted moral principles or standards; wrong; evil; etc.

Legalities are a state that are pressed on us by outside powers

Morality is a state whereby we define the difference between 'good' and 'evil' and act accordingly. Even if that involves a 'legal' tenet. i.e. you may not like the laws your govt makes and take a 'moral' stand against them (abortion is a classic example). So, in this instance no authority can make you change how you 'feel' about something you feel strongly about.

Morality is defined by it's Owner. Legality is defined by the legal powers of society. Both are "fluid" though.

(e.g. For most people, murder is not moral, nor is it legal in most jurisdictions. Yet, in some countries, it is both morally correct and legal to kill someone, especially when at war)

As for authority, morality can not be created through Legislation. Just because the authorities say it is illegal, does not mean that people will stop doing it, or will stop wanting to do it.

Authority does not create morality because they think that as a human we will not do anything immoral and illegal is the word to define some confusing immoral activities by bad people.

This is a very good answer by one lady :-

"An illegal act will get you tossed into jail.

An immoral act can destroy your soul. "

Do not hurt yourself and others.

Morality whether one accepts it our not is just opinions. To those people who beleive sex outside the marriage is immoral it is immoral to them, but not to those who do not beleive this way, but either way it is not illegal, not here in the United States. don't beleive me if your spouse cheats on you just call the police and ask them to do something and they will tell you it is not a crime to cheat on someone.

The second statement is false and true. It is false in the sense that governments create laws that create morality laws about murder, rape, stealing speeding running red lights impose a certain morality on us all,

It is true because even government entities have a limit on how far they can go, they cannot legeslate morality based on religious beleifs like it is a sin to do this or that, they have to base them on what is best for the public and keeps our freedoms in tact.

I hope I have not confused you more. but laws about murder, rape speeding and so forth although it imposes a type of morality on us are to keep us safe and free, but laws against sex outside the marriage for example is forcing a religious opinion on people. See the difference?

Adultery is immoral but not illegal.

Authority does unfortunately create morality for anyone who belongs to an organised religion, however we often override what these 'moral' laws tell us to do because we have a deeper sense of morality which is a result of evolution, we do not for example put to death disrespectful children which the bible commands us to do in the name of 'morality'. Any species which did this wouldn't get very far!
