I have these feelings, also. You mention Joel Osteen as being sincere. I believe he's sincere, but I also feel he preaches a watered-down gospel. He concentrates too much on urging us to feel good, instead of urging us to purify our lives continually and mourn over sins we commit that disrupt our walk with the Lord. He did not graduate from a seminary, nor is he an ordained minister. I place him into the category of those raised up because his listeners have "itching ears," as referenced at 2 Timothy 4:
3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; 4 and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.
I place "preachers" such as Benny Hinn, Kenneth Copeland, Paula White, Creflo Dollar, Rod Parsley, Joyce Meyer, Paul and Jan Crouch, Morris Cerullo, Mike Murdock, etc. into this category. Many of these are also teaching very dangerous and blasphemous false doctrines.
John Hagee isn't quite there yet, but he's dangerously close. I always urge caution to everyone who listens to him.
The bottom line is this: before ANY of us supports the ministry of ANY televangelist, we must first use discernment, then investigate what other believers have discerned -- and discovered -- about them. We can then act in accordance with the real truth.

If they are putting themselves on a pedestal, than does it really matter? Jesus taught us to do three things. Learn the Bible, Preach the Bible, and teach others to preach and teach. TV preachers leave off the third part. They don't need to go on TV to spread the word of God. They need only teach three people a year to do it. Those three will each teach three others. I'm not that good at mathematics, but I think that would work out to thousands after just five years. Of course, this would mean not getting paid to do it, like the TV preach is.

These t.v. evangelists are so bogus. Look at Jim and Tammy Faye Baker, Jim was imprisoned. They may have gone to a school of religion, but I bet the also took a few acting classes when they were there. Pat Robertson for instance, seeking political office, he is not in his profession to spread religion, he is in it for notoriety and personal gain.

Osteen is fake as well, he doesn't preach the word of God, he hasn't figured out how incorporate God into his self-help garbage.

I think that all tv preachers are in it for one thing - money. They use God and the word of God to make money. There are no good ones!
