It's easy to believe what's right in front of your eyes. Like I could say I don't believe in gravity, but if I jump off a building and hit the ground, I'll be forced to acknowledge it.
Forced belief isn't what God is looking for. He wants people to choose to believe in Him, not because they have to, but because they want to.

Thomas was a doubting disciple right. Afterall, Jesus had warned the disciples that many false prophets would come in his name, claiming that they were Christ. However, Jesus rose from the dead after three days. Thomas had been told that Jesus had risen from the dead, but he did not believe until he saw Jesus for himself and saw his nail scarred hands. When he saw the holes in his hands, he believed.
Jesus says in this scripture, blessed are the people who have not touched his nail scarred hands or seen him the flesh, but still believe that He is God. God is saying we are blessed, because though we have not seen Him, we still believed. He is saying that we don't have to ask for signs, but we are blessed because of our faith. Our faith is that strong. It's like oxygen, we don't see it, but we can't live without it and we know it exists right? That's how Jesus is, we don't see Him physically, we cns't live without him, but we know he exists.
I hope God spoke truth through me and your question is answered!!! And peace back to you!!!! Shalom.

Easy, Jesus is talking about Thomas who refuses to believe without physical evidence. Thomas didn't have FAITH.
The other disciples believed Jesus. THAT is what faith is.
The point? Believe the Word whether or not you SEE the results first.

Thomas did not believe because Jesus had told him what he would do, he had to actually see and touch Jesus to believe that he was resurrected and alive in the flesh. It goes on that Blessed are those who have not seen but believe.
We should have faith, yes, blind faith in what Jesus says as truth. We are blessed because we believe but have not actually physically seen Jesus.

It means that it's more difficult to believe in something you can't see than something you can see. Jesus was saying that faith requires a conscious suspension of disbelief, that sometimes you just have to know something without having tangible evidence of it. They called Thomas "Doubting Thomas" because he believed in only things he could see, like a scientist does; to know something exists even though you can't see it requires more spiritual strength.

The term "Doubting Thomas" comes up through this verse. Thomas doubted Jesus until Jesus appeared to Thomas and showed Thomas his hands and his side.
Jesus was saying that those that do not need to see to believe are greater than those who doubt him until they see.
"For we walk by faith, and not by sight."
