Lol, heck no! God repeats in the Quran that women have rights over men and men have rights over women, both receive the same rewards for good deeds and both receive the same punishments for bad deeds, both have the exact same duties to God (only women get extra special benefits when we need it most!).
Inferior? No!
The same? No again!
While I would never agree to being less than a man, I do believe that women and men are of two different natures (with exceptions, of course) and those differences should be realized and embraced for the benefit of everyone.

No way. I was previously an athiest and since I converted to Islam I have got more respect. The woman is like the pillar of the family. Previously i worked hard, spent all my money and had nothing to show for it. Now, with my husband, he works all day to support the family, I have the choice to work, I dont have to, but I have my own business and that is fine by him. I feel protected and loved. If people actually knew the religion and didnt go by the media it would not be portrayed as we are these poor inferior things that can't do anything.....it is the complete opposite to that. We can work, have our own money and property, go to uni...do everything. We get treated better than the men if anything.

I'm a Muslim and I don't believe women are inferior to men.
Islam has actually given many rights to women that weren't there before. Acts that you see today from men treating women in Islam is not related to religion, but actually related to culture. The Arab culture mostly takes its traditions from before Islam and not because Islam says so and so.

Islam gives the Muslim Woman right to own property, land and business. Although she has limited inheritance the Quran Guarantees she will have something to live on if her husband or father dies. Another male relative takes her in and offers her protection. Or she can marry again! She also has a right to divorce her husband. Everything I said RIGHT NOW is FROM THE QURAN. EVERYTHING you SEE ON TV Is LIES. Islamic countries are waaaaayy tooo extreme and do not even know what their own religion teaches them. As a Muslim woman it hurts to see other women suffering when Islam has given them SOOO MANYY RIGHTS! argghhh those darn Men but no WE ARE NOT INFERIOR TO MEN ACCORDING TO ALLAH. =]

When i was a Christan... i didn't find any technical respect of women either.
I am thoroughly independent, I can't be asked to do home chores if i dont want to, I have a divorce right, I have inheritance rights, I have a free-will to choose how should i pursue my life and career, I wasn't pressurized to change my surname after my marriage, I have my own identity. I dont wear hijab like any nun or orthodox catholic women would do.
Religiously, what else a woman needs?

NO, Islam does not teaches that women are inferior to men..
I would like everyone to research on it. One website that I know is http://www.islamalways.com and you would find many articles about women in Islam, even lectures.
