200 years ago, the Bible was unchallenged. With science, Christians have had to reinterpret a lot of the bible in order to still be a Christian. Is there a limit? I mean, is there some basic concrete aspects of the bible that can not be twisted at least a little?

Is it in the Bible? What is the point? Why only men?

Don't get me wrong, they are super comfy! Just wondering the meaning to it.

Blessings and Shabbat Shalom!

I assume that most of you would be repulsed, and perhaps even rebellious, to the idea of being the subject of a dictatorial government like that of Stalin, Hitler, Castro, Amin and so many other historic tyrant dictators.- all of whom refused to be questioned about their authority to rule and all of whom threatened the worst of punishments upon those who dared to challenge their demands.

Why then, are you willing to overlook the restrictive dictum of your right to question the highest powers of your belief when the very dictatorial nature of the holy books and the religious leaders of your faith use such damning threats against you - threats which are nearly similar to the worst Gestapo oppressiveness?

If you are not allowed to question anything freely are you not the subject of an oppressive dictatorship?

It seems that everytime I get on here, Religion is basically mocked, or even ridiculed by some of the "Questions" on here. I mostly see a "War" between Athiests, who simply believe Science disproves "God" and the nature of man. That we live just to die. On the other side, Some "Christians" tend to refute, saying "God through Jesus." Life is after death. But the thing is both are "Pushing", leaving hardly any room for "Debate"(Although some answers I do find interesting from both sides. Even the more common and grammaricly, um "Challenged.") Now personally I do believe in God but I try not to force it. It is better to try to make somebody understand as a friend than an enemy. (Common sense) Methinks we should stick to more real topics to debate and not the "Would jesus shoot an atheist" (Notice I spelled it right this time only) debacle. Oh by the way. Here's a Q 4 U: In your mind, what determined that there is no God? What was the, "Eye opener" so to speak?

Why would it be a sin to fornicate (can I say that) on earth but you can have an orgy in heaven? I mean with the virgins and all?

It is a very logical mode of thought well illustrated by Fyodor Dostoyevsky. It basically mentions that men are biological machines, absorbing knowledge and society. Yes, you could say it's one of those philosophies that blame society for everything but that quick judgment is like saying evolution is random. Determinists believe in the sequential order of nature.

My friends wonder why I am agnostic and I tell them so I can stay open-minded becasue I think its impossible for anyone to have the right answer.
My question is why that when I ask why they believe they tell me becasue they have faith and the bible is evidence enough.
I mean having faith and believing is fine but what kind of evidence is that. I can make a better argument for christianty and I don't believe in it.

which side do you think puts up more questions that the other side really has no noble, respectable answers for?

when atheists or christians answer questions, which side usually has generally more ignorant, intellectually dishonest defenses for the way they believe?

Every time somone blows themselves up these days, too many say "Oh, its not the religion, its just a culteral thing." Muslims wont allow dogs in their cabs? Its cultural! Not all Muslims think that way!

Well this may be true, but not all christians believe in the pope. English catholics thing the Queen is the head of the church. So, therefore the pope must just be a culteral icon, as not all christians believe in him. Never name the Orthodox beliefs on the pope.

I'm not talking about good news bible, I'm talking about bible in it's entirety - It's filled with unmoralistic values of veangeance, jealousy and vanity of God. Pls read the bible before answering this question. And please don't say that Bible is not meant to be taken literally. First of all, who are you to interpret God that way and secondly, I don't see any disclaimer in the Bible stating that it is not supposed to be taken literally

Ok so my bf and I are riding in the car tonight. I go to stop at a red light and suddnely, I hear soemthing move from the back seat. This was followed by a gush of cold air. Now it was so strong I thought that my back door of my car had flung open ( which it hadden't). There were no windows open in the car. I looked at my bf and I asked him if he felt that. he said he didn't.. I'm not sure what this means, but I have had something similar happen in the past.
