After all just because a book is called Holy doesnt mean it is.

Your point is, of course, well taken. Dawkins does an excellent job dealing with this in his latest book.

The people who wrote my car manual never drove my car either. I trust it because it has proven true and others I trtust tell me so as well.
If we could make it to heaven on our own, we wouldn't need the Bible. The fact we can't is one of the Biblical reasons for God coming 'down" to us in Jesus.
Jesus said a house divided against itself cannot stand. Offense and defense can't both be on the field calling plays for the other side. So how could demons call the book for God?

Exactly. The Bible was written by MEN. Biased, single minded, dictative men. People believe in it BECAUSE it's said to be Holy and people need a sense of a greater power and the Bible is basically rules for a decent existence. Good deeds go rewarded, bad deeds will not go unpunished. That kind of thing. You'll have to take the words of man with a grain of salt because of the nature of the beast.

I "blindly" follow nothing. I once was blind, but now I see. I spent two years doing historical research on Christianity and the existence of Jesus Christ before I got saved.

Let me ask you this, why don't you follow the Bible? Assuming that is, that you've read it...

It's not a "blind faith" as I once thought... It's a "calculated faith" based on a preponderance of the evidence. Well, I've collected the evidence, and I've put it on trial... After a number of months in the jury room, I have returned with my personal verdict... Jesus Christ is who he claims to be... the Son of God who came to this earth about 2,000 years ago to offer true and lasting hope for mankind.

OK, now what...? I intellectually believe, by a preponderance of the evidence, that God exists, that the Bible is true, and that Jesus is his Son... How does this affect me? What is faith, as far as it concerns me?

I love the metaphor of a chair... Find the chair closest to you. Look at it closely. Examine its design. Is it structurally sound? Is it sufficiently engineered? Will the materials chosen by the manufacturer support your weight?

Most likely, you picked a chair that you believe will support you. That's belief. You applied logic, knowledge and experience to make an informed intellectual decision.

Now sit in the chair... That's faith! At one point, intellectual assent only goes so far. True living requires that we put our beliefs into action. Intellectual belief without actionable faith is hollow and meaningless...

Because the bible is complete truth. Graphe Theopneustos, all scripture is God breathed. And not just a god, THE divine God. Its written through man, not from man.

The manual to the space shuttle was written by people who have not been in space. What a ridiculous argument. It is not blindly followed, it is followed because it works.

we are programmed to have "faith" or to not believe.

life, and all of our experiences are what we make of them.

maybe some of the bible writers have experienced heavenly realms-??? how could we know for sure??

it's all perspective.

we all have the ability to experience "heaven"
