If God made men with foreskins in the beginning, why does He command them to cut it off in the Bible? If God is all knowing... shouldn't He have known that later He would want men to cut it off. Why put it on there in the first place. That doesn't sound like intelligent design to me.

Do you agree with the above statement? For me religion is when discipline replaces discipleship. It's the cause of the crusades jihads etc.

What your thoughts?

I have recently been going to the Kingdom Hall for Jehovah's Witnesses and I really enjoyed studying with them but the problem is that in order to be baptised you have to do so many things and I do not agree with all the things they do..for instance in thier version on the bible they rearranged and changed scriptures. And the bible is a holy book, you arent allowed to change or rearrange anything in it, it prohibits that. I was baptised as a christian 10 years ago and they say only get baptised once but the witnesses say your not baptised until they baptize you properly...I am so confused and I feel terrible for having to choose...can someone please help.

By MARYCLAIRE DALE, Associated Press Writer Sat Sep 16, 4:13 AM ET
WYNNEWOOD, Pa. - Monsignor David Benz listened in anguish as a woman described how a parish priest sexually abused her two sons with the same hands he used to consecrate the body and blood of Christ. The woman's tale came in a meeting called by Cardinal Justin Rigali, who summoned hundreds of Roman Catholic priests in the Philadelphia Archdiocese to hear from the victims of clergy sex abuse. The victims offered sometimes graphic accounts of molestation and rape. "It was like sticking a knife in my heart," said Benz, 63, of St. Philomena church in Lansdowne. Victoria Windsor Cubberly spoke of repeated abuse by more than one priest and the suicidal thoughts and nightmares she suffers as a result. The mother of the two abused children, identified only by the first name Grace, talked about the lingering trauma the abuse inflicted on her entire family. "How did I not know? How did I not see it?" said Grace. See Yahoo news.

I am a Christian, lets say I die and find out that the bible is a fake and there's no truth. All I have lost is a fantasy. But when you die, lets say the bible is true, what will you lose?

...Have serious trouble with some core belief of that group (like the literal resurrection of Jesus to Christians, or rebirth/reincarnation to Buddhists) do you think it would be acceptable to join that group anyway with the intent to try to understand that doubted tenant better later? But that you should be perfectly honest in the present and say that you do not believe it but you will stay open to the possibility?

I suspect I will get very different answers from Christians than I will get from Buddhists...

The Pope's quote is taken totally out of context. He makes a faux pas in an attempt to reach out the Muslim world, and THAT enrages them. I say, um well I can't say it in the Religion section, but I say Islam is off it's rocker just now.

DON'T YOU DARE REPORT THIS!!! IT'S AN ATTEMPT TO START A DIALOGUE, NOT AN ATTACK ON YOUR PROPHET!

I have read several different comments from people who say they follow the bible, but not all of it. Then there are those who are homosexual, and believe in the bible, although it advises against it. I'm using homosexuality as an example, I'm not attacking that particular group. I actually have no problem with them. I'm not trying to insult anyone, but I would like to know how you justify going against Gods word or how you justify only believing in SOME of it. If you truly believe the bible is GODS word, then wouldn't you trust and follow it COMPLETELY?

If a Creator exists, it took tremendous reason and rationality to create the universe and to create life. It took great passion and love.

It follows that we, as created beings, are meant to use our minds, and not be illogical or destructive or shut down our minds and have blind faith. Faith is good, if you know what and why you believe. To do this takes your use of reason. Most times, to come to a decision of faith is a great mental struggle (eg, CS Lewis).

Atheists are illogical. Example: how did the brain get programmed for eyesight. To accept 2 images, combine them, to provide near instant assessment and response, millions of lines of unbelievably brilliant genetic coding, how did that happen? We could put 1000 genius's to work on this today for 10 years, and they would not be able to figure out how to do that today. Not only is there no randomness, there is unimaginably brilliant creation involved. It simply makes no sense to believe this just happened.....naturally.

There are so many texts that refer to religious meaning. Would it take a lifetime to read and analyse them to find out what their true meanings mean?

I DO NOT agree with what the Pope said. I think he is an idiot to say something like that in today's political climate. He was obviously not paying attention to the furor that was ignited when 'those cartoons' emerged earlier this year. What did he think was going to happen? Anyway, my real question is: why do the Muslim population over react every time something appears that criticizes their religion. Yes, other religions have a reaction, but do they burn things, run around the streets with fists in the air and anger in their hearts, threaten death to the person responsible and everyone associated with that person? Don't you think it shows how this group of individuals is totally intolerant of any outside opinion or discussion?

The curse of God on the infidels! 2:83

God is an enemy to infidels. 2:92

Whoever offers violence to you, offer you the like violence to him.

Fight for the cause of God. 2:245

God loves no infidel. 2:276

And when the sacred months are passed, kill those who join other gods
with God wherever you shall find them; and seize them, besiege them,
and lay wait for them with every kind of ambush: but if they shall convert,
and observe prayer, and pay the obligatory alms, then let them go their
way. 9:5

How can you say this is a peaceful religion?

just before coming a christian i was tired and fed up of this world it seemed overwhelming sad. the next morning i woke up and opened my eyes to see this figure coming at me i tried observing it to make sense of this frighting unexpected thing it wore white cloth with a white cloak but when i looked at its face there was no detail only these sparkly eyes like bright white stars like its eyes where powered by a nuclear reactor or something it came and bent over me and i closed my eyes in terror and when i opened them it was gone. has anyone else ever seen this thing. i wondered if it had something to do with becoming a christian like some sort of angel or something!

-If there were no Heaven waiting for you when you die.....

-If there WAS a GOD, but he didn't do things like help you find love, a job, or a cure (because it isn't his responsibility).....

-If there was no Jesus waiting to vouch for you.....

-If there were no special powers awarded to believers.....

-If there was no Hell after death (to fear).....

-If being a Christian didn't make you any better than anybody else (saved or otherwise).....

-If there were no superhero-like Angels that "had your back".....

-If the only punishment your tormentors would recieve was the fruit of their own bad judgement.....

-If Old Testament Judism was perfect (when properly practiced)...

-If Jesus Himself said, "NOT ME, YOU IDIOT, HIM!! JESUS CHRIST!!"...

-If Brittish Nobility practiced Buddhism...

-If all you were promised were the benifits and prosperity that accompanied a peaceful, honorable existence...

Would you still want to be a Christian?
