9. Lo! this Qur’an guideth unto that which is straightest, and giveth tidings unto the believers who do good works that
theirs will be a great reward.
10. And that those who believe not in the Hereafter, for them We have prepared a painful doom.
11. Man prayeth for evil as he prayeth for good; for man was ever hasty.
12. And we appoint the night and the day two portents. Then We make dark the portent of the night, and We make the
portent of the day sight giving, that ye may seek bounty from your Lord, and that ye may know the computation of the
years, and the reckoning; and everything have We expounded with a clear expounding.
13. And every man's augury have We fastened to his own neck, and We shall bring forth for him on the Day of
Resurrection a book which he will find wide open.
14. (And it will be said unto him): Read thy book. Thy soul sufficeth as reckoner against thee this day.
15. Whosoever goeth right, it is only for (the good of) his own soul that he goeth right, and whosoever erreth, erreth
only to its hurt. No laden soul can bear another's load. We never punish until We have sent a messenger.
16. And when We would destroy a township We send commandment to its folk who live at ease, and afterward they
commit abomination therein, and so the Word (of doom) hath effect for it, and We annihilate it with complete
annihilation.
17. How many generations have we destroyed since Noah! And Allah sufficeth as knower and Beholder of the sins of
His slaves.
18. Whoso desireth that (life) which hasteneth away, We hasten for him therein that We will for whom We please. And
afterward We have appointed for him hell; he will endure the heat thereof, condemned, rejected.
19. And whoso desireth the Hereafter and striveth for it with the effort necessary, being a believer; for such, their
effort findeth favour (with their Lord).
20. Each do We supply, both these and those, from the bounty of thy Lord. And the bounty of thy Lord can never be
walled up.
21. See how We prefer one above another, and verily the Hereafter will be greater in degrees and greater in preferment.
22. Set not up with Allah any other god (O man) lest thou sit down reproved, forsaken.
23. Thy Lord hath decreed, that ye worship none save Him, and (that ye show) kindness to parents. If one of them or
both of them to attain old age with thee, say not "Fie" unto them nor repulse them, but speak unto them a gracious word.
24. And lower unto them the wing of submission through mercy, and say: My Lord! Have mercy on them both as they
87
did care for me when I was little.
25. Your Lord is best aware of what is in your minds. If ye are righteous, then lo! He was ever Forgiving unto those
who turn (unto Him).
26. Give the kinsman his due, and the needy, and the wayfarer, and squander not (thy wealth) in wantonness.
27. Lo! the squanderers were ever brothers of the devils, and the devil was ever an ingrate to his Lord.
28. But if thou turn away from them, seeking mercy from thy Lord, for which thou hopest, then speak unto them a
reasonable word.
////////////////////////////////////////////////////
55. (And remember) when Allah said: O Jesus! Lo! I am gathering thee and causing thee to ascend unto Me, and am
cleansing thee of those who disbelieve and am setting those who follow thee above those who disbelieve until the Day
of Resurrection. Then unto Me ye will (all) return, and I shall judge between you as to that wherein ye used to differ.
56. As for those who disbelieve I shall chastise them with a heavy chastisement in the world and the Hereafter; and they
will have no helpers.
57. And as for those who believe and do good works, He will pay them their wages in full. Allah loveth not wrongdoers.
58. This (which) We recite unto thee is a revelation and a wise reminder.
///////////////////////////////////////////////
110. When Allah saith: O Jesus, son of Mary! Remember My favour unto thee and unto thy mother; how I strengthened
thee with the holy Spirit, so that thou spakest unto mankind in the cradle as in maturity; and how I taught thee the
Scripture and Wisdom and the Torah and the Gospel; and how thou didst shape of clay as it were the likeness of a bird
by My permission, and didst blow upon it and it was a bird by My permission, and thou didst heal him who was born
blind and the leper by My permission; and how thou didst raise the dead, by My permission and how I restrained the
Children of Israel from (harming) thee when thou camest unto them with clear proofs, and those of them who
disbelieved exclaimed: This is naught else than mere magic;
111. And when I inspired the disciples, (saying): Believe in Me and in My messenger, they said: We believe. Bear
witness that we have surrendered (unto Thee).
112. When the disciples said: O Jesus, son of Mary! Is thy Lord able to send down for us a table spread with food from
heaven? He said: Observe your duty to Allah, if ye are true believers.
113. (They said:) We wish to eat thereof, that we may satisfy our hearts and know that thou hast spoken truth to us, and
that thereof we may be witnesses.
114. Jesus, son of Mary, said: O Allah, Lord of us! Send down for us a table spread with food from heaven, that it may
be a feast for Us, for the first of us and for the last of us, and a sign from Thee. Give us sustenance, for Thou art the
Best of Sustainers.
115. Allah said: Lo! I send it down for you. And whoso disbelieveth of you afterward, him surely will I punish with a
punishment wherewith I have not punished any of (My) creatures.
116. And when Allah saith: O Jesus, son of Mary! Didst thou say unto mankind: Take me and my mother for two gods
beside Allah? he saith: Be glorified It was not mine to utter that to which I had no right. If I used to say it, then Thou
knewest it. Thou knowest what is in my mind, and I know not what is in Thy mind. Lo! Thou, only Thou art the Knower
of Things Hidden.
117. I spake unto them only that which Thou commandedst me, (saying) : Worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord. I was
a witness of them while I dwelt among them, and when Thou tookest me Thou wast the Watcher over them. Thou art
Witness over all things.
118. If Thou punish them, lo! they are Thy slaves, and if Thou forgive them (lo! they are Thy slaves). Lo! Thou, only
Thou art the Mighty, the Wise.
////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
137. And We caused the folk who were despised to inherit the eastern parts of the land and the western parts thereof
which We had blessed. And the fair word of the Lord was fulfilled for the Children of Israel because of their endurance;
and We annihilated (all) that Pharaoh and his folk had done and that they had contrived.
//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
46. And We caused Jesus, son of Mary, to follow in their footsteps, confirming that which was (revealed) before him,
and We bestowed on him the Gospel wherein is guidance and a light, confirming that which was (revealed) before it
in the Torah a guidance and an admonition unto those who ward off (evil).
47. Let the People of the Gospel judge by that which Allah hath revealed therein. Whoso judgeth not by that which
Allah hath revealed; such are evil livers.
48. And unto thee have We revealed the Scripture with the truth, confirming whatever Scripture was before it, and a
watcher over it. So judge between them by that which Allah hath revealed, and follow not their desires away from the
truth which hath come unto thee. For each We have appointed a divine law and a traced out way. Had Allah willed He
could have made you one community. But that He may try you by that which He hath given you (He hath made you as
ye are). So vie one with another in good works. Unto Allah ye will all return, and He will then inform you of that
wherein ye differ.
///////////////////////////////////
36. Lo! those who disbelieve spend their wealth in order that they may debar (men) from the way of Allah. They will
spend it, then it will become an anguish for them, then they will be conquered. And those who disbelieve will be
gathered unto hell,
37. That Allah may separate the wicked from the good. The wicked will He place piece upon piece, and heap them all
together, and consign them unto hell. Such verily are the losers.
38. Tell those who disbelieve that if they cease (from persecution of believers) that which is past will be forgiven them;
but if they return (thereto) then the example of the men of old hath already gone (before them, for a warning).

sometimes it blows my mind because it seems that both time and space must have a beginning and an end, and yet cannot possibly. i do not see a way that logic can ever explain that to me. but, in the same way, God is a mystery to me, and yet i can still accept the limitations of my understanding and believe He exists. my question is: if you completely trust science and reason to give you all of the answers, how do you explain this time\space quandry?

I was in my house that had recently caught on fire 2 of my girlfriends,which i had only known for 3 months were sitting outside in thier car they saw a lady directly behind me the same height and size as i am. I also felt a presence behind me. Both my parents past away in the house years ago. There have been several occurances in my house since the fire all being of good nature.The fire left many images on my bedroom walls,which was also my parents bedroom years before.There was one image in particular that caught everyone's attention it was on the inside of my closet door the fire left a vividly clear picture of an indian woman. My mother was over half indian and somewhere deep inside me i feel that somehow that image is of her.I have sealed the door because it comforts me so much. Another time i was in this same room and saw an image appear on the wall of a sharp tooth animal that almost made me scream but suddenly a warm shield wrapped itself around me and the image disappeared.

of 9/11. Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world according to some sources. In the US however it's still much smaller than Christianity. Isn't it up to the more reasonable members of a (relatively unknown) religion to step up and make it clear that they in no way supported the actions of the murderous radicals who claimed that they did what a good Muslim should do? My Muslim housemates also fell silent with me (I ascribe to no organized religion btw)! They avoided me and did not want to discuss the issue at all. They did complain in approx. December of that year that they were “sick of hearing on the news about the hunt for Bin Ladin”. (I just glared when that was said.). Anyone know the possible reasons that less radical members of the Muslim community fell silent and did not openly publicly condemn the terrorist's actions or address the topic at all?

Think of the most warm, friendly person you have known. If God were to come to you personally, almost as if you have the same feeling of this person before you, and stood before you, telling you things you want to hear about yourself (healthy things of course) but have never been told by anyone, what would you give up to have that kind of unique experience? (I'm not talking about having a drug effect).

Pls do not be facetious. Think with sobrierty on this.

I began to answer, saying that I wanted to be the first to answer this question; then I hit SEND, thinking my words would be there before anybody else's and I could edit at my leisure and my answer be first. Thought I was being quick but Yahoo Abuse Squad was quicker, expunging my words and charging me 2 counts of abuse. My answer should have been: At age 12 he was in the temple arguing with priests and theologians, and lost track of time; and when his parents found him, they admonished him; and he replied that he was involved in his father's affairs(presumably meaning God's).
Most other of his childhood events, likely not considered pertinent to his ministry, are not included in his followers' accounts.
Apostle Paul later says that he learned obedience through the things that he suffered. So perhaps a lot of that was going on; and by the time he got into his 30's he was mature, ready to start an earnest ministry, okay?
Now this question: I commited abuse, how would you rate it?

I'm not sure I'm capable of having any deep, meaningful faith. I try to be open minded, but I find it troublesome that there are religions out there that, if they are true, would have me spiritually condemned for what could be something I'm just not capable of.

If there's a Christian God, why would I be made like this if it would damn me?

Indian State Rejects Opposition to Conversion Law
www.alertnet.org

RAIPUR, INDIA, September 12, 2006: A Hindu nationalist-led government in central India said on Monday it will proceed with a plan to impose strict punishment on anyone found guilty of forcing religious conversions. The decision by the government of Chhattisgarh state to give more teeth to a law banning conversions by force or allurement comes despite protests by Christian groups who said such measures undermined basic freedoms. The proposed changes to the include a three-year jail term and a US$435 fine for those found guilty of forced religious conversion. It also requires that those wishing to convert need to seek the district administrator's permission 30 days in advance. But Chhattisgarh's Bharatiya Janata Party government said it was not possible to make a turnaround on the proposed changes to the act, passed by the state assembly in August and now awaiting the state governor's approval. "The protest and demonstration by Christian bodies will hardly ma ke any sense, the act has already been passed by the assembly and soon it will become law," state Home Minister Ramvichar Netam told Reuters. For decades, India's Hindu nationalists have accused Christian missionaries of bribing poor tribes people and lower castes to change their faith. Christian missionaries have a strong presence in a vast rural forested belt of Chhattisgarh, mainly in the social and education sector. "We oppose the amendment as it is aimed to harass the missionaries and target minority Christians," said Archbishop Joseph Augustine of Raipur. "It basically violates fundamental rights of the Indian constitution that ensures religious freedom to all citizens." At least three of India's 29 states ruled by the BJP or its allies have already enacted similar laws.
